New verse:
Upon the hearth the fire is red, |
|
Still round the corner there may wait |
Home is behind, the world ahead, |
Ok, sent.
It's 53k words, btw, and I don't think half done.
Thanks! I'll take a look at it starting later tonight.
They're tellin' us we can go home early...I'm going to stick around about ten minutes and then head home. And then I can pester you with the basic synopsis of my own current story. ;-)
*sigh* Why is it that anything I write seems brilliant for about the first thousand words, and then goes careening downhill?
Oh my goodness you wouldn't believe what happened...
I was fixin' Matthew his lunch, Joshua had already eaten and decided he was going to play Star Wars Galactic Battlegrounds on the computer. It's on my computer, which is in a hugh wooden desk, with a keyboard drawer that is just gigantic and heavy.
Apparently Joshua LEANED on the keyboard desk and it broke off! I hear this AWFUL crash and Joshua starts screaming...
I ran down the hall and found him under the computer desk holding the side of his head. I jerked him up and slapped my hand hard onto the side of his head (applying pressure in case he was bleeding) and took him into the hall and sat on the floor with him, gave him a good look-over.
He sustained a pretty bad bonk on his ear, it got all swollen and red. Applied an ice pack, gave him an Advil and loved on him till he collected himself.
He's fine. The desk is a loss, the computer is now in the jedis room where their old iMac used to be (that quit working.)
I think he puts the computer chair up too high (level with the keyboard drawer). He leans over onto the keyboard drawer...I told him he can't put the chair up that high.
I shook for a solid hour afterward.
Hah! I just figured out how to get the heroine to believe that the hero is guilty... mwahaha.... I'll get him to make a forced confession...
Ouch! Glad he's OK!
Wonder if the drawer could be fixed with new hardware.
Luke has done that twice. Second time, once I realized he wasn't hurt, he got no sympathy from me. I fixed the keyboard shelf, but it still slants too much.
Oh, and afterward, I found the tuna sandwich I made for Matthew sitting in the middle of the kitchen floor...apparently I heard him scream half-way to the table and just sat it down in the middle of the kitchen!
I don't remember doing it, though.
I'll get Steve to look at it. Maybe enough for the Salvation Army, but I won't trust it again. This little computer desk doesn't have room to put your hands on it to lean.
Ouch. Poor guy.
Prolly fell there after you threw it on the ceiling...
Yikes, 666...
Once, Matthew climbed up onto the top of my computer to get some chocolate and broke the entire computer desk! I went running in and found him unwrapping the chocolate, the glass screen of the monitor directly over his head, dangling by the cord.
I shiver even now, thinking about it. He was probably two.
Hehe!!
It was just sittin' there still on the paper plate...it was weird how I did that without knowing it...
Reminds me of a Jeff Foxworthy routine.
"When we were kids we had a 500 lb. TV set sittin' on top of a TV tray. Somebody said to my dad, 'he'll pull that over on his head.'"
"Dad said, 'yeah he might...once.'"
LOL!!! Yep.
Afterward, Steve went out and got this monstrous desk...office desk, you know? Metal. Got is used somewhere. It's out in the shop, unfortunately...it's too big for this house!
OMG! These kids keep us young, but they can age us 20 years in 5 seconds!
Thank God he's OK.
I nearly took a swig of the cholesterol medicine!
J/K...but I was really shook up.
Heh.... by the way, I'm glad you're takin' my advice and sipping it. Hope it works though.
2J... That footnote makes the whole story!
Speaking of cholesterol medicine...
Any recommendations for Christmas dinner?
I'm inclined to go with an Australian Shiraz for the red. But I really don't like white wine, so I don't really know what to get.
I've got a couple of standards that we usually get. But I'm willing to try something new.
I gotta learn more about selecting wines...
Nothing freaks me out more than hearing a child scream.
That's prolly why I can't stand going to those pizza/arcade places. Too much screaming and I can't identify if someone is in actual trouble or just being annoying.
