The Hobbit Hole XVIII - Though we pass them by today...
The Freeper Hobbit Hole ^

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

Though we pass them by today...

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

In the book, I thought Shelob got him through the throat, which would have been exposed.

That is correct:

'Master, dear master,' [Sam] said, but Frodo did not speak. As he had run forward, eager, rejoicing to be free, Shelob with hideous speed had come behind and with one swift stroke had stung him in the neck. He lay now pale, and heard no voice, and did not move.

One question I asked was "I seem to have a 1970 Beetle with a 1967 Engine, according to the chassis and engine numbers. Could it have come from the factory this way or has my engine been replaced?"

The answer?

"It happens."

LOL!!!

What's the weekend plan? Has the beach house been getting super high tides? I keep getting warnings about it on my weatherbug.

We are going tonight to visit Sonya and Tim and the baby. We have to hold the baby, and we've been curious to talk to Tim since BIAW has been so involved in the governor fiasco.

BTW, Gidget is really having a good time with thenewdog. She's never been a good player, always too hyper sensitive about aggressive play, but they growl and tussle and he's like Logan, very apologetic if it gets too rough.

I made them the perfect toy.

That is just so nice, Hair...it looks like Gidget's been lonely for a friend and now she has one.

I'm ridiculously happy for the girl!

And here is a screencap of Frodo in Cirith Ungol. You can see the Witch-King stab wound scar on his left shoulder, and the Shelob wound above his fight breast.

"it happens"

Yeah, you know those roving engines wandering around just find some poor unsuspecting beetle to hijack.

Homer's just what Gidget needed. Maybe she won't be so nervous like she used to be.

Not sure that shot qualifies him as a man... ugh... of all the characters to get topless, why did it have to be him?

Or she'll rub off on him.... we really laugh when she is barking at the TV now.... because when she gets really into a show, he starts to howl. He doesn't understand why, but he howls.... whether he's confused, vaguely supportive or just responding to the excitement, we can't tell. But it is FUNNY.
