Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Though we pass them by today...
New verse:
Upon the hearth the fire is red, Beneath the roof there is a bed; But not yet weary are our feet, Still round the corner we may meet A sudden tree or standing stone That none have seen but we alone. Tree and flower and leaf and grass, Let them pass! Let them pass! Hill and water under sky, Pass them by! Pass them by! |
|
Still round the corner there may wait A new road or a secret gate, And though we pass them by today, Tomorrow we may come this way And take the hidden paths that run Towards the Moon or to the Sun. Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe, Let them go! Let them go! Sand and stone and pool and dell, Fare you well! Fare you well! |
Home is behind, the world ahead, And there are many paths to tread Through shadows to the edge of night, Until the stars are all alight. Then world behind and home ahead, Well wander back to home and bed. Mist and twilight, cloud and shade, Away shall fade! Away shall fade! Fire and lamp, and meat and bread, And then to bed! And then to bed! |

Pay for the dump? Do you get trash picked up at your house, or will they just not haul away big things?

No trash pickup here. Have to take it to the town dump, and you pay per bag and I can't remember how much for larger items.

What a ripoff! Ok, paying to have your garbage hauled away I get, paying to do it yourself...
I just throw mine into the big dumpsters in the parking lot.

I'm figuring I'll start with the two people I dealt with when I bought the house. They were nice folks, and work for two different agencies now. If their estimate feels right, I'll probably just stop there...pick one agency and run with it.

Well...the landfill has to be paid for somehow, I guess. And there's an actual company that takes the stuff from the dump - it isn't state employees or anything.
I've never known anything different...so it doesn't bother me so much as the hauling does.

You'll know something different when you get out here!
My rent seems steep but then I figure that trash, water, sewage and property taxes are all included. All I pay is electricity, gas to heat the water, and my internet access.

but it's cheese eatin' surrender monkey food... I won't even buy French Roast coffee...Since it's New Orleans, I prefer to think of it as CREOLE food! That takes some of the 'froggieness' out of it!

The youts are hard to motivate these days. Too many things vying for their attention. We have that problem at the Parish, too.

The sixth book is going on sale July 16th!Already got my advance order in at amazom.uk. Gonna get the British version this time. I ordered the British sets of the books for the kids for their birthdays.

Have you checked on realtor.com to see what other houses in your area are selling for? You just have to put in your zip code and particulars about # of bedrooms and baths. That will help you determine if what they suggest sounds good.

Doesn't really help me, as my house is vey small for a two bedroom and not really comparable.
I'll probably just have to trust to the realtors.

If I can get enough for it to pay off the mortgage, that'll be enough! Keepin' my fingers crossed.
Anything above and beyond that will be icing on the cake.

Well, you were right...it went over big. I showed up with soup, hot coffee and slices of still-warm fresh baked bread. He was pretty happy about it, I could tell because he immediately started snacking on the bread!
Matthew said on the way back "You're a nice person." I thanked him, but then told him that me being nice was maybe a part of it, but the main reason I help Dad is because I promised him I would when I married him. Then I said "And not only that, I promised God that I would help Dad. And Dad made the same promises."
Both boys really thought about that on the way home...real quiet the rest of the way.

And both boys are probably now thanking God for two parents who love each other, wich is the greatest gift a child could recieve.

The first three books, the British version is quite different - they translated words and stuff. You do know that the real title of book one is "Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone", right?
Lately most of the changes have been for spelling and to change English-style punctutation to American style. But the Brit covers are more fun.

Look at prices for a one bedroom and add a little to that, then!

Yup! There's no such thing as a "sorcerer's stone". Bah. The Philosopher's Stone is a real mythical object (does that make sense?) and real alchemists spent years and years trying to produce it. It would, they said, turn lead into gold and produce the Elixer of Life...
Or in a favorite show of mine, give the user power to break the Law of Conservation...
