The Hobbit Hole XVIII - Though we pass them by today...
The Freeper Hobbit Hole ^

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

Though we pass them by today...

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

But someone would probably be happy to buy it as a fixer-upper

Young couples are always looking to buy their first house, and put some sweat equity into it! We did that with our first one. It was well built, but the decorating STUNK! We were happy to re-do it like we wanted.

And no, I don't do hardwood floors. We're gonna buy pre-finished flooring with a 25 year warranty!

I thought it was paint for Rosie's house.

So, how soon can you be there with paint and brushes?

I always wanted a crimson room with an electric-blue ceiling!!

Mrs. Sulla hasn't given permission, yet!

I've got some rooms here I'd like to paint. Only I can't find my collection of paint chips. Guess I need to start a new collection.

Not for a bedroom I hope. That color scheme would keep you awake nights!

Wow, that sounds exciting!

I'm not into painting. There's a reason I like renting...

Painting I can do. It's not so bad once you get started. It's dealing with wallpaper that I don't like.

But yeah, I'd need to get a vacuum cleaner.

Neither of you own a vacuum cleaner? I'd be buried in a matter of days without one!

I have a teeny-tiny dust buster. It doesn't work very well and I have to crawl around on my hands and knees.

Sorry, I don't do pets up North. I'm not getting out in zero degree weather to walk the dogs (though I am partial to doxies) and I'm allergic to cats. ;o)

Why does everyone walk dogs? We never walk ours ;~D Just need a fenced yard and push them out!

You can pick up a vacuum at Goodwill or a garage sale that would do you better than that!

Yes... I would have suggested a pawn shop, but I knew you were on thread and I didn't want to upset you!

The thrift shop I went to didn't have any vacuums. And I'm too lazy on Saturday mornings to get the good deals.

I'll get one at some point, it's just not high on my priority list.
