The Hobbit Hole XVIII - Though we pass them by today...
The Freeper Hobbit Hole ^

Posted on 12/20/2004 9:01:36 AM PST by ecurbh

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

Though we pass them by today...

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

I was referring to the school admin who enacted his rage against me because my mother wouldnt buckle under his stupidity...

*sigh*

I have done NO Christmas baking so far this year. Haven't even bought supplies.

I don't think I'll go all out this time around. Just make sugar cookies and spritz and gingerbread, probably, with my sisters. And fudge, most likely.

Because he's a stupid jerk and doesn't have any interest in redeeming himself. Some folks just can't be helped. And the fangirls don't deserve a redeemed - well, you know.

I don't think the "revealed last sentence" actually proves Harry's alive at the end, you know.

Going again...

Heard a new one today that's just soooo Maryland. Had to do a double take.

I zipped down to the commissary to grab a bite for lunch. And the bagger said "Have a nice Christmas, hon. Ok?" Only with the sloppy, slurred mangled English that is the Murl-end accent around here it sounded like: "Have a nice Christmas Hannukah!"

I haveen't read the Harry Potter books yet, though I saw the first movie in A&E (I think it was on A&E)

I have lots of friends and relatives here who are HP fans.

I must be the only one in the country who hasn't read any of the HP books, but readiing you posts and the posts of others makes me curious enought to pick up the first book (which HP fans advise me to read first or I'll be very cunfused as to what is going on)

PS, Harry did kind of remind me of a cross between Pippin and Frodo.

I am making some of those cinnamon/apple sauce ornaments, and some quickbread. Last year, I made Challah for everyone. The challah was a big hit, but I don't have the time this year that I had last year.

Last night we made peanut butter cookies with the Hershey kisses in the middle. I forget what they are called.

elf-boy, bittygirl and I are taking a two day trip to make Christmas presents with "gama" today. We are also taking the puppy to meet my mother as well as to keep up her training. I thought my mom would not be pleased about us getting a puppy, but she has really surprised me. She told me it was a "wonderful idea." Whew!

Heh...curious little hobbitses, aren't we?
