Thanks for the link to the book and the CHRISTMAS greetings :)
Norton sucks up resources something awful if you keep it running in the background.
No about the islands. I stay away from islands - too many SHARKS around.
You are mean
Yep - that's why, except for the anti-virus which was already loaded here, Norton is only run from the CD.
"You are mean"
Mo, don't encourage him. You know how Swervie is.
I just ordered this CD fron Hank Brake ... it's pretty good

Nope, not my fault.
If I abused any of the rest of the world, it's because they came here looking for it.
*chuckle*
I didn't do it.
The flaming carnage that was Thanksgiving dinner in teh deep fast fryer was NOT my fault.
I don't know why. I run the full Norton suite all the time and can't see any speedup when I shut it down. There is no need to keep the scan running all the time. Once the disk has been cleaned once, only the monitor on new downloads is needed.

Explain that to me Swerv. My firewall and AV are always enabled on my task bar.
So are mine, and they take zero resources unless I am downloading something. If you will right click on the AV, one of your options is to run a scan of your hard disk. That is very resource intensive, but only needs to be done once, at least until a virus slips in before Norton has an update to catch it.

Hi,,,catching up o things around these parts..Kids here for Turkey Day so been busy but got the Christmas cards mailed yesterday. Of course the shopping for gifts is not even started and we have to mail things...
Read the Norton news you have been discussing. I use the 2004 System works antivirus and the fire wall I have is a hard firewall not software. No virus problems ever and what has been really good..I use earthlink total access 2005 and it catches emails ( usually from senders I don't know and wouldn't open) that are sick with viuses and the notice is in red....great...
I notice my system slow down if the adware junk gets in so I just run my ad adware ( may be swithing to spybot) and remove it.
It has been sunny and warm here until today and not it is cold and rainy..hows by you, Nully? .38? Westy?
Yes..ok. I do all that. I do like Norton, especially Works, but it gets expensive when you only have it on the machines for six months.
I just put Grisoft and ZoneAlarm on the laptop. I don't even do mail on that, or software. Just FR and upload pics if I need it.
You could also register a domain name so your email wouldn't change.

Ping to previous post.
Spybot is great, and free - though I donate to the author.
