Thanks Dark 1, but I tried that a hundred times. I see nothing showing a raise in CPU's. It spikes but doesn't show anything to grab onto.
It's not spiking high.. maybe to four or six, but when I'm using software it's slowing me down. It seems something else is using the hard drive.
I have googled the problem to death, and I'm using the original mouse that came with the puter, and all the settings seem fine.
I had it last year when I was here too.
Hmm.
If I had Poser, since I only have 256Mb of mem in my machine, I would likely be able to duplicate the problem.
But I don't have Poser.

OMG.. after all this time, I think I might have found the problem. Been trying since last year. I have both fingers, toes, eyes and legs crossed.
I had a start up Monitor on, and I shut it down.. I haven't seen the hourglass since.

Oh it has nothing to do with Poser. I just shut down the startup monitor, and I lost my task bar with the firewall and AV showing.. So I did a reboot and everything came on again.
I assume it's my firewall or AV now, because it's back.
I have Norton for both.. and I'll bet that's what it is. What do I do about it, other than replace it, which I will do in a few days as it's running out.
I'll get Zonealarm and Grisoft I guess.

Norton 2004 or better is pretty good I hear.
Zonealarm has a really nice firewall.
Haven't had such trouble myself, but I'm not using a graphics thing while posting.
I don't use the graphics while posting.. This happens while I'm just on Desktop or only DD. I just ordered a repair on the startup monitor and if it doesn't help I'm ditching it.
