KLOL, 101.1 FM announced Friday that station has changed formats. The station switched from a classic rock format to a Latino music format branded as Mega 101.
KLOL is now branded as Mega 101 FM. The station's web site was listed as under construction, but KLOL's former morning show hosts Walton and Johnson announced on their web site that they were informed Thursday night of the change.
The radio hosts stated on WaltonandJohnson.com that, "Thursday night Walton and Johnson were informed by lower-level management sources via a last-minute phone call that there would be no Walton and Johnson Show tomorrow. In it's place would be Hispanic music programs."
The thread is about English disappearing from radio airwaves at least the FM channels in addition to AM. It's not about a Spanish station being added ---- it's all about 20 Spanish stations in many areas now with 0 English. It's about immigrants who now have no interest in the "melting pot" like previous immigrants did --- and it's going to be not such a good country when all immigrants refuse to speak a common language and all remain in their little own language ghettos. Countries like India have learn the value of a common language --- English for them --- and you see people in that country giving up their separate dialects and unifying with a common language. We're doing the reverse --- heading fast to Balkanization.
And many of us know plenty about the Mexican culture -- we see the thousands coming over the border daily --- many dying to get over here --- we see the unsolved murders -- many in Ciudad Juarez, kidnappings in Mexico City, the corruption, the children begging on every street corner, we've seen the 10 feet fences with barbed wire and cut glass over the top and iron bars on all windows and doors. The high rate of unwed teen pregnancy. We know Spanish and know what the nortenos are singing about --- we know what jefe de los jefes is about (drug kingpins) or why teresa mendoza was una mujer muy valiente --- yes--- songs in praise of drug cartels and drug smuggling. The culture didn't do so much for that country --- so why do we want it here?
They really sound like they are open minded and inclusive.
XM did have commercials when it first launched. They only dropped them after focus group testing showed it was coming close to putting them at a competitive disadvantage against Sirius, which has been commercial-free on its music channels from the day it launched.
Maybe for the very shameful way the elite upper classes treat your mestisos and indians. The vast wealth of Mexico is only for a few --- you know that. Although Mexico competes with Great Britain in number of billionaires, you have a very shameful system that denies the majority any access to education --- maybe some crappy unheated school if they're poor --- and medical care for the mestisos and indians? That's a joke.
The really sad thing about your country --- although you seem to be just fine with the injustice there --- is that many of those campesinos actually can make in the USA --- but they can never make it in their own country.
I know of no Mexican at all who believes Americans are killing the girls in Juarez --- most Americans never go there anymore. Most of the poor families believe it is the sons of the wealthy --- which is why they're protected and your government isn't interested in solving these murders. Or the police themselves or the drug cartels. The poor in Juarez don't believe it's Americans ---although the elites would like to convince them of that. Shift the blame obviously.
So you're a native Texan ???? Do you like Kitties??
Please let me know if you want ON or OFF my Viking Kitty/ZOT ping list!. . .don't be shy.
You are on the fringe of literacy.
OMG, get a new keyboard. Yours has a short in it. And switch to decaf!
Unfortunately, it's not considered a "foreign language" anymore!
I can't make sense outta his rant in 188-89-90 .....
That stands out above all else. Stupid people shouldn't breed and lay the blame on others (pun intended). If you're broke, keep your damn knees firmly together for the duration.
