Death of my cousin - why were ya'll critical?

Hello. A year ago my beloved cousin was killed in a car accident. Today, I was on google and happened to think of the tragedy. I googled her name and found your site. this is the link: http://freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/1012399/posts?page=9

I do not see why you people have to make an issue out of her death. not everyone was disrepsectful, but as you can see some were.

I am not a political person - I'm not a liberal. but come on - why do you have to make fun of the dead? would you like it if I posted about your dead mother or brother so that others could lampoon and crack jokes about her political belifs?

do you have any respect for her family?

I was quite saddened to see people who never met this girl judge her. I dont care if you disagree with her political, grow up.

Somethings you just have to ignore and take the highroad - making fun of a tragic event serves no purpose other than to highlight your own idiocy.

put aside your hate - someone who was loved died. have some respect.

Like she did? She was someone who thought that liberating millions of people from slavery was a bad thing.

And everybody is loved by somebody. Even Osama's momma loves him. I suppose I should show "respect" for his passing.

You need to put aside your hate. Embrace us, love us, after all someone loves us. And you have hurt our feelings you hater.

I have no idea how you found that one thread among countless thousands

That part is easy - Google your screen name and you will see.

Concur in your assessment, my liege.

Most on FR are kind and genuinely good people. There are exceptions to the rule....and I seem to attract comments from them. I think that some of the comments on the thread referenced deserve rebuke. And I don't think that it's out of line to post that rebuke to all given that internal FR mechanisms didn't self-police.

The "subject to future good behavior" would seem applicable.

You're that troll who likes to sign up and pretend to know someone from an article, aren't you?
Last time I knew, you signed in as Im-ho-ra?

I do smell troll. My gut says this is as phony as a three-dollar bill, and I trust my instincts.

Yeah, I re-read that part afterwards. It's amazing what the Google webspiders will pick up, so don't post any threads you don't want thrown in your face later.

If I had a explicit reason, I'd give it. Something just doesn't ring true.

The mods have evidently decided to let him stay, and I'm not going to start flaming until I have something better than a hunch. As Daschle would say, though, the timing is suspicious.

I'm going to let my subconscious chew on the matter for a while.

First of all, we try not to deal in personalities here. We deal in situations, which is fair game for any kind of judgement. Nothing personal. Noboby here knows anybody else here all that well enough to get personal. There is no shortage here of judging what people believe and what those beliefs force them to do -- good, bad or indifferent. That's why we are here.

From the link:

"Later, when the group was gathered at the Islamic Center of Central Missouri, Iraq native Shakir Hamoodi addressed a smaller crowd. As he spoke, a car whizzed by and a man yelled "Bomb Iraq. Kill Saddam.""

Apart from your reason for posting here, do you know if she was in sympathy with Saddam and his motley crew or in sympathy with the majority of Iraquis who cheered when we entered Iraq? If the latter, wouldn't it have been better theatre to simulate a torture chamber on a float, complete with batteries and wires, chains and hot pokers and broadcasting the simulated screams of those being tortured?

If the former, she was making a mockery of our brave military who were willing to give their lives to end Sadam's regime and reign of terror on his own people and to prevent the consequences of Saddam's hatred for the west from being exported elsewhere.

I don't care who you are, man, woman or child. If you encourage our enemy, you have become a warrior yourself. If the street demonstrations and mock bombing were designed to divide Americans in an effort to bring pressure to bear to end our military involvement overseas, (ala Vietnam), you embolden the enemy and are more likely to cause the deaths of those on who's behalf you are you trying to protect.

I think sufficient restraint, understanding and compassion was shown on the thread you linked, considering the fact that many people here have relatives on the battlefield.

Welcome to Free Republic.

Joined by other local opponents of the Iraq war, she dropped to the ground that day in March to simulate victims of bombing. Around her neck hung a sign that read "PEACE."

Your cousin was exploiting the deaths of others for her own political idealism. Should that have been ignored?

If we learned anything from an examination of John Kerry's life it is that aiding and abetting the enemy here at home causes pain, suffering and death for us over there.

Compare the people on Free Republic to Democratic Underground.

When the news came out that (Democratic Vice Presidential candidate John Edwards's wife) Elizabeth Edwards had breast cancer, FReepers sent out prayers to her. You can check that out yourself.

On the DU site, they wished Laura Bush would get cancer.

That's a good example of the difference between them and us, and don't forget it.

By the way, I'm very sorry for your loss.

I just read the thread. There were only 4 or 5 people making jokes. More people than that expressed sympathy. This will happen on any public forum.

At least it started a thread instead of resurrecting one. They're sooooooo sneaky, ya just don't know what's next with 'em.
