Now that the 2004 Presidential Election is over, it appears that the democrats are of the opinion that New York Senator Hillary Clinton is one of the best possibilities for being named the next democrat nominee for President in 2008.
What is your opinion on this?
I feel that John Edwards presently thinks he could mount a serious challenge for the democrat nomination for President, but I doubt that he would attract enough funding to fuel his challenge to the point that he would ultimately be successful.
I have also heard the name of Indiana democrat Senator Evan Bayh (and former very popular Indiana Governor) mentioned as a possible (more centrist) democrat nominee for President in 2008.
Currently, who do you think is the best nominee for President in 2008 within Republican ranks?
I have heard that former NYC Mayor Rudy Guiliani is seriously considering it. I have also heard that CA Governor Arnold Schwarzenager (sp?) would like to be the nominee and there are some who support an ammendment to the US Constitution to allow non-US born citizens to run for President in order to allow Arnold to run.
If HRC gets nominated, the only color we have to worry about is BROWN (as in shirts)
"If Hillary Clinton Is a Presidential Nominee in 2008 Would Any "Red" States Turn "Blue"?"
They could indeed turn blue if the Republican nominee raped a nun in broad day light and then lied about.
She's been over-rated and will never go farther than being an annoying New York Senator - just like Fat Ted Kennedy can't get out of Massachusetts."
A great reason for the Dems to run her ... just look at the fun we will have !
Clinton / Pelosi 2008 !
her strategy will be this - take Richardson as VP, and go hard in states where a tip in the Hispanic vote could give it to her. Take all the states Kerry won - add NM (5)Arizona (10) Nevada (4) - Kerry got 252, she needs 19. AZ+NM+NV=19. Colorado is also becoming more hispanic, in case she nees another possible state.
that's her electoral strategy I think.
Hillary Clinton/Howard Dean in 2008 vs. Evan Bayh/Condi Rice.
LOL!
I agree, not to many people would vote for Hillary go in the WHite House. The Democrats may think this is a good idea, but in the end I think they'll see it is really dumb. They would lose, hands down!
No.
John
If Hillary runs, the Democrat nomination is hers. The primaries would be a series of coronation ceremonies.
The MSM and Hollywood idiots would swoon like you've never imagined. It would look to the casual observer like a freight train heading toward a Democrat landslide.
It would be a landslide. It would be a bigger GOP landslide than Nixon vs McGovern or Reagan vs Mondale. It would be the most polarized election this century. As rabid as the Hillary core would be the contingent scared to death of her... and they would outnumber Hillary's feminist/socialist/communist brigade by 3 to 1.
It would take one of the GOP's biggest, most inept dopes in history to lose to Hillary. This doesn't mean the stupid party couldn't rise to the occasion (and that is a frightening thought). After all, we managed to let Hillary's husband win twice when he should have been skunked both times.
Frankly, as big as the GOP win seems this time, it's less than it should have been. It's amazing we didn't win by 10 million votes given the weakness of the opposition.
Without incredible incompetence on the right, I don't think the left can win a national election. The more liberal the candidate, the worse their chances and few are more liberal or polarizing than Hillary.
Vote for Bill's wife.....again
you post these points here - which I agree with by the way, it will become increasingly hard for a conservative Republican to win in the future because of these (and other) trends.
then, on the other thread, you tell me Rudy is a sure loser. But you can't tell me how the Dems make up for a loss of NY and NJ on the electoral map. which states will Hillary win that Bush won in 2004, if Rudy is the candidate?
NOT WITHOUT HUGE VOTER FRAUD. Hopefully by then this problem will be less and less like Jeb Bush did in Florida. The cheating counties were unable to find fraud ballots because of these changes!!!!
hahaha...sorry! That'll teach me not to use the word "genius" and Hillary! in the same sentence!
Don't forget that they gave Michael Moore front and center at the convention with Jimmy Carter.
Bayh would be the practical best choice. He's young and attractive, but not the silk pony. He has an attractive family as well. He has been elected and re-elected easily in a red state whose Electoral Votes he would carry, and which is the junction of the Midwest and the South. He's the only one I can see who could possibly turn red states blue.
On the other hand, his vaunted appearance at the DNC convention in either 92 or 96 bombed. He was to have been that year's Obama. Also, he has the same Gore handicap of actually growing up the son of a senator in DC and, I think, attending St. Albans.
I see no other Dem on the horizon who has his assets for appealing to the general public.
OR we could try to have him switch parties. Other than family tradition, I've never figured out why he's a Dem anyway.
