The Hobbit Hole XVII - A new road or a secret gate...

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

A new road or a secret gate...

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

Good morning all!

Jen, I'm prayin' too! Do good on those exams! Steve told me last night that every time he turned in an assignment, he'd slam it (jokingly) on his professor's desk and say "I'm still standin'!" He said yesterday he went in to turn in his final exam (take home) and he did the same thing, slammed it down on the guy's desk and the professor asked "Are you still standing?" Steve said "I'M STILL STANDIN'!!"

Praise GOD he's done with this class!!!

Corin: How'd it go with the contacts? I wore them for years, but then had radial keratotomy back in the early 80s. Haven't worn them since, of course, but now with my age my eyes are starting to change. I wonder if I could get them some day...

Corin: How'd it go with the contacts?

Well, they're in, but the left eye isn't real happy. I have to leave for a meeting in a few minutes. I may have to reconsider wearing them. But I'm gonna try.

You'll do fine on the exam Jen.

Wife gave an exam yesterday that made students cry...literally.

~snif~ It wuz beautiful.

Are they soft? If so, make sure they aren't inverted...that'll cause problems.

Oh, btw...as a side note...you know The President of the United States had his physical the other day? At the same hospital where our injured Marine is...and did you hear that the President awarded the injured their Purple Hearts? Our Andy was one of the Marines that got his from the President!

(I got an email about it today...they are going to send out pics and I'll post the email and the pics when I get them.)

Yeah, the trial ones they gave me are the one day disposables. I'm getting the 2-month kind...much less spendy. But they showed me the right way to put them in.

Great news about Andy. I look forward to the pics.

I'm late...

There's a TV in front of it?

Hey Corin. I heard Glen Beck say yesterday that 70% of the USA is Christian. I think he's way off on that. Let's see, 2-3% are Jewish, what are the other 27%, Hindu? I think we must be well over 90% Christian here, in spite of the people managing convenience stores.

I just got the clothes on the line. It's sunny and there's a good stiff wind, they should dry fast. However, it's bitter cold! My fingers turned red and pruney!

Currently 11 degrees here...

I dunno HOW people did laundry here in the old days. Lotta indoor clotheslines, I guess.

We found two easter eggs...

One is an MTV interview that is so-so

The other is a mock interview with Elijah Wood where he thinks he's being interviewed via satellite by a German journalist, but it's Dom. That one is really funny.

In the 50's in Miami, we are all freezing...the high will only be in the 60's this afternoon. At least if feels kind of Christmasy.

Won't those clothes freeze instead of dry? Don't let them fall, they may shatter.

Well, as Mr. 2J would say, I'm still standin'. Thanks guys. Now I just have the one tomorrow afternoon.

It was a nasty test, half the stuff wasn't in the book at all, it was things he mentioned once in lecture. Ugh.

Yes! They do freeze! It's real funny. They get real "thick" feeling. Tea towels get almost as hard as cardboard.

But eventually, with the sun shining on them and the wind blowing...they dry.

Do you know how you did, or does that come when you get your grades after the semester?
