I think any account dated September 1, 2000 or later should be retroactively banned...

Heck yes! There should be a standing rule that you need to register and then lurk for two weeks before posting. Smart newbies will lurk a month or more. Nice vanity BTW.

Don't forget one-line vanities. We're seeing lots of those, too.

I thoroughly understand and appreciate the thinking behind this suggestion. However,....

National elections are the time that the talents and experience of the folks on FreeRepublic really shine. This is the time that the most number of people will visit, and some will stay to become part of our community.

My suggestion is that this is a valuable opportunity for Freerepublic. I suggest that the gain is worth the pain, that the flame is worth the candle.

I've only been around 6 weeks but I've seen the increase in multiple postings in just the last month.

But then there was the temper snit over the multiple pie posts. A number of posts about the same thing from multiple sources is still multiple posts about the same thing.

I think I'm chasing my tail but, Oh well this thread will be off the front page quick because of multiple posts.

I VOTE YES. Except it is the owners decision; I've been attacked recently by some sleepers...the attacks were not from republicans...by the attacks you could tell they were from liberal loons/goons.

I know when I signed up in Nov. 2000 I was desperate to find like-minded people. FR sure helped me get through that election and this one too.

It was also nice to find a local chapter. Before I felt pretty lonely in the liberal state of Washington.

No, many of us first found FR during a major news event like an election. But have more administrators on duty.

No. What if one of them happens to bring something very valuable. Then we would have wished differently.

There should be a one month probabation period, where newbies can only reply to threads.

I'm a longtime lurker who was finally prompted to register and post by my passion over this election. I'm glad I was allowed to.

Nah, no suspension of signups. Sadly, trolls and idjits are part of the price we pay for having the great discussion that we have here, and there are more people coming to this site every day that can really bring something to the table. Let's not throw out the proverbial baby with the proverbial bathwater.
