The Guild 9-16-2004 Vote for me or the bear gets it...

Kerry gets tough...

Democratic presidential nominee Sen. John Kerry (news - web sites) threatens the crowd that if they don't vote for him, he'll knock the stuffing outta the bear at a rally in Madison, Wisconsin September 15, 2004. Kerry blasted President Bush (news - web sites)'s 'excuse presidency' and demanded that he take responsibility for the economy instead of playing victim. Photo by Brian Snyder/Reuters

Celcius 41.11 will feature Fred Thompson, Bill Sammon, Charles Krauthammer, Fred Barnes, Victoria Toensing, John O'Neill, Michael Ledeen and Mansoor Ijaz. More info at this link.

LATimes's story on C41.11

From WP:

So, fans of Moore's movie are almost brain-dead? "We believe they are not thinking straight," says Bossie, former investigator for Indiana Republican Rep. Dan Burton (a legislator who, we should point out, once shot a melon in his back yard to test a theory related to Vince Foster's suicide). "We take that title from all of the anger, rage and hatred that Michael Moore and his ilk, the MoveOn.orgs of the world, direct at President Bush."

Yet the main focus of the $1 million documentary actually is not Moore: "The movie is inherently and extensively about John Kerry," explains Bossie, author of a recent book bashing the Democratic senator. The film's stars include Fred Thompson, a real actor and former Republican senator, and various conservative pundits: Charles Krauthammer, Michael Medved, Michael Barone and Fred Barnes. Made-for-TV movie veteran Lionel Chetwynd (recent credits include "Ike: Countdown to D-Day" and "DC 9/11: Time of Crisis") is co-producer.

Will "Celsius 41.11" receive wider release after the premiere at the Loews Georgetown Cinema? "We're close" to finding a distributor, Bossie said. "This movie will be seen in theaters around the country; it's just a matter of how many at this point."

Well, had some bad news. (Note: I'm still VERY happy my house is undamaged!).

The tree falling on my driveway took out the power lines running from the pole to my house. The tree has been removed. But the power company announced today that those will be the last lines to be repaired....maybe weeks. Ugggghhhh!

OH NO!!!!! I'm so sorry. Check and make sure the electrical meter on the side of your house isn't damaged, the power company won't fix that. You'll need a licesended electictrian. Sigh!

Oh a happier note, another movie is coming out. Trailer for the movie Weapon of Mass Destruction, The Murderess Reign of Saddam Hussein.

I'm so happy the people that understand the good we're doing in Iraq are putting this out!

I'm so glad you posted that about the broccoli/chicken casserole. I want to prepare the casserole as a "house gift" and leave it for Anne & Rob when they come home from the Ryder Cup tomorrow. But I don't have the recipe with me. Could you post it...or FRmail it to me? Thanks.

You don't need to put up the instructions. I just need the proportions. I'm going to the grocery store now before the Ryder cup starts (sigh). Best I can recall, it uses chicken, broccoli, cr. of mushroom soup, mayo, lemon jc, bouillon, curry, milk or ck stock to thin, cheese, and almonds. Did I forget anything?

Hello, all. We got slammed by Ivan on Friday. Massive flooding in the entire Pittsburgh region. I was in Pittsburgh that afternoon and the trip home, which usually takes an hour and 15 minutes, took about 3 hours because roads were flooded and exit ramps were closed on every other highway I tried. I ended up going substantially out of my way and driving over the hills through farm country to get home.

Our little town is about 7 miles from the Ohio River, far enough that we don't have water flowing down the streets (the river town where I buy my groceries looks like that right now, and we can't get there anyway because it's entirely closed to motorists), but our creek overflowed and stripped off the pavement on the road leading out of the town on the east; the road going west is closed because of slides. I don't think anyone in town actually got flooded out, however, but the entire town has no telephone service, for reasons unknown. So I've been incommunicado - can't call, can't receive calls and cannot get online! I'm in Mr. M's office in the next town, using his computer.

Apart from the lack of phone service, we're much better off than most people in this area. The electricity was out only a few hours friday; gas and water utilities are fine. Will check in whenever I can!

Take care with all that flooding. I don't know which is scarier, the water or the wind.

Thanks, BWB. I've already been to the store and thankfully I have everything on the list! Always good to double check.

I'm watching!

Now for the rest of the recipe for IG...

Cook chicken 25-30 minutes (I use the pressure cooker)
Combine sauce ingredients - soup through milk. Sauce should be pourable, use more milk if needed. thinner if to be served over rice.
Cover bottom of casserole dish with broccoli
Slice chicken into bite sized pieces, spread over broccoli
Cover with sauce. Use a fork to move the ingredients around to allow sauce to sink in.
Top with cheese
350 degree oven - cook 30 minutes or until bubbling.
Top with toasted almonds

Yummy!

All you do is steam the broccoli slightly and boil the chicken. Cut chicken in bite sized pieces...layer broccoli in bottom of casserole, then chicken on top of it.

Mix other ingredients, using chicken broth or milk to thin. I make sauce thicker if I'm serving the casserole alone, thinner if serving over rice (my fave). Pour sauce over solid ingredients, cover w/ cheese, bake at 350 for 35 or 40 minutes (BWB...is that right?!) .

Sprinkle toasted almonds over each serving.

(I've also added water chestnuts to the casserole and people really liked it)
