Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
...Hill and water under sky
New verse:
Upon the hearth the fire is red, Beneath the roof there is a bed; But not yet weary are our feet, Still round the corner we may meet A sudden tree or standing stone That none have seen but we alone. Tree and flower and leaf and grass, Let them pass! Let them pass! Hill and water under sky, Pass them by! Pass them by! |
Still round the corner there may wait A new road or a secret gate, And though we pass them by today, Tomorrow we may come this way And take the hidden paths that run Towards the Moon or to the Sun. Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe, Let them go! Let them go! Sand and stone and pool and dell, Fare you well! Fare you well! |
Home is behind, the world ahead, And there are many paths to tread Through shadows to the edge of night, Until the stars are all alight. Then world behind and home ahead, Well wander back to home and bed. Mist and twilight, cloud and shade, Away shall fade! Away shall fade! Fire and lamp, and meat and bread, And then to bed! And then to bed! |

Hey Scott... is it just me or was Denver a lot flatter than you expected it to be when you got there?
I'd always pictured Denver as being "surrounded" by the rockies... but then I found that Denver is actually just in the flat part of Colorado that for some reason Nebraska and Kansas didn't want. dunno why. There's mountains... but they are "over there" (pointing to the flatirons).
By way of full disclosure though... while I have a lot of time spent there it's all been up in Boulder, and little of it in Denver exactly. Boulder I found to be sorta like Olympia. Up to its gills in Greeners.

It's a crazy time of year for people involved with schools.
How about you? How are you doing?
What's the silliest thing you had to deal with today?

I'm up to my eyeballs in Sorbanes-Oxley compliance meetings.
"So... do you have policies regarding best practices?"
"Yes."
"Are the published?"
"Yes."
"Do you have a mechanism to track who has read and agreed to the policies?"
"Yes".
"So what controls do you have in place to ensure that the policy on... document classification... is always followed?"

Seriously.... I already put stickers on my truck, and I ~do~ have to spend a couple days in Seattle next month. It already occurred to me that I might have acted rashly!
Ruh-roh....
Well, just a couple of days, you might be able to escape the leftist wackos up here. I think I want to get a good-sized button or something to put on my backpack when I am riding my bike. That might bring about some rather "interesting" commuting experiences, like I don't get enough of that already!

Thanks! I think I'll order one tomorrow.
I love mine! I have a Bush/Cheney one, and then I got a "My Heroes Have Always Been Cowboys" regular one that I attached to one of the blank magnets.

!Well now I have to take this DVD back to the store. I'm glad I didn't open it.

I like Denver (even if it is a liberal cesspool). There's a lot of neat historic sites, a wonderful living history museum in Littleton. The old-downtown is quirky and charming. There's an awesome record "store" called Wax-Trax somewhere around 14th street. The "store" is nearly a block of stores. All kinds of music- vey fun. And there's an awesome bookstore near Cherry Hill called The Tattered Cover. Several stories of books. It's a liberal hangout like a Barns-n-Noble but it's fun nonetheless.
How I miss my summers in the mountains. *sigh*

update:
Instead of predicting the storm will hit Volusia County, Fla., the new model has it making a Brevard County track, Sorrells said. "They say it'll come in southern Brevard County and then go almost straight up," Sorrells said. "We are starting to lose our wiggle room. It's coming closer and closer and it's still a very scary, nasty Category 4 hurricane."
Sorrells said the new predicted storm path could still be off by a few hundred miles.

I guess it could be a brown recluse...or just about any spider bite...'cept a black widow...they are supposedly very painful and you'd know it if it bit ya. I honestly just thought it was an infected mosquito bite at first.
Thing is, Brown Recluse spiders like to hang out in dark undisturbed places, and Matthew doesn't! So I don't really think that's what it is.
Already, last night at around ten pm, the redness didn't look so inflamed. (Steve and I went in and checked it.) That zythromax is amazing.

Yes, if it was a tick bite and if he got
any of the diseases that tick bites can cause, we caught it very early.
The doctor said they would check his blood for lyme disease and "some others"...I was still so shook up over him running a fever (I just had no idea) and didn't ask what other tests he was going to run. I did ask him if he had lyme disease, what would we do? He replied "Just exactly what we're doing." So that made me feel better.
