*ahem*
I found a really nice Thai cookbook written by a lady who owns or did own the Lemongrass restaurant either in San Francisco or San Diego. The recipes are fairly simple and dont call for really exotic ingredients, provided one can find the traditional herbs and spices that one needs...even then, she offers some good substitutes. I ahve yet to try her recipes, but am wanting to. Have a bag of frozen shrimp in there I might pull out for Thai tomorrow!!
I really shouldnt be talking food this late in the evening. Its hard enough breaking myself of the soda habit!!!
All right, so it's harder to be snobby about. And I have a skewed perception of beer, having been around college students for the last six years. You'd think beer was the drink of the yobs if they were the only people you knew who drank it, too.
And it is smelly.
I've been on a Thai kick the past few years :) Thai is awesome!
I'm watching women's gymnastics here--this is exciting! The US just clinched at least Silver, now whether we get the Gold or not is up to what the Romanians do.
I'm just funnin' ya tho. I know lots of women who don't drink beer, the Missus included.
I worked up to the jabaneros from jalapenos :)
Milwaukee has one of the biggest German populations in the US, so there's some really good German restaurants there. This one has some great beer, but I can't remember the brand, unfortunately. I'd probably know it if I saw it.
nite folks
*stashes the half-empty glass with a limewedge and salt rim in the fridge* I didnt mean that at all! I meant : I just COOKED with it. Yes. COOK. :D
((((HOBBIT HOLE)))))
Sacrilege.
Blasphemy.
The unforgivable sin.
Nitey nite!
Beer's great if you get the right stuff. There's the cheap stuff and then there's real beer. . .
Haven't tried sauv blanc much. I usually get mine with an Italian dinner, in which case I usually get a red wine--usually Cabernet Sauvignon or Merlot, though sometimes I have to substitute if they only have French brands, since I refuse to drink French wine anymore.
Night, Corin! Was hoping you'd stick around to help me hold up the pro-beer end of the discussion :)

If you're talking about the kind of beer college students usually drink, I agree. But there's a lot better beer out there.
Rosie, I'm trying to remember some German beer brand names--you remember any?
Have a good night, Alkhin!
ROFL!
shu-weet...
It's still smelly, though. I've been around what people say is "good" beer, and have had no urge to drink it.
Try a New Zealand Sauv Blanc, any of them really, next time you're having a spicy dish. Reasonably priced, really great wine. It has an amazing taste transition when it goes from chilled to room temperature. Quite fascinating.
