Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
...Hill and water under sky
New verse:
Upon the hearth the fire is red, Beneath the roof there is a bed; But not yet weary are our feet, Still round the corner we may meet A sudden tree or standing stone That none have seen but we alone. Tree and flower and leaf and grass, Let them pass! Let them pass! Hill and water under sky, Pass them by! Pass them by! |
Still round the corner there may wait A new road or a secret gate, And though we pass them by today, Tomorrow we may come this way And take the hidden paths that run Towards the Moon or to the Sun. Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe, Let them go! Let them go! Sand and stone and pool and dell, Fare you well! Fare you well! |
Home is behind, the world ahead, And there are many paths to tread Through shadows to the edge of night, Until the stars are all alight. Then world behind and home ahead, Well wander back to home and bed. Mist and twilight, cloud and shade, Away shall fade! Away shall fade! Fire and lamp, and meat and bread, And then to bed! And then to bed! |

The three-day event, one of the great tests of a great horse. Not to mention a great rider.
Being a prissy show-off on Day One, hard work on Day Two, and hard work while being a prissy show-off on Day Three.
Post a picture, Hair! <grin>

Oh for cryin' in your soup. It's a power trip they're on, I tell ya.
I really don't like authority figures most the time! LOL
Well, I gotta go. Thanks to everyone for the encouraging words about my cholesterol. I feel a lot better about it. I was pretty despondent earlier. Steve is coming home early because of it...he had to go to school. But I better get offline before he gets home.

Don't know what the regs were but the cemetary where my folks are buried required the casket to be in a vault. Yeah, we had to have that too. But there were varying levels of pricing and "airtightness" for the caskets.

That is EXACTLY what I was thinking today as my manager was talking. Took all I had not to bust out laughing.
I disguised it nicely within a cough. ;-)

Best example of staying focused on the goal no matter how badly things are actually going:

Best gift of 110% by a nice grey:

American with the best chance for a medal, Kimberly Severson, currently in third place after dressage and x-country:

Best shot of a nice half-pass in dressage

Ooh this one is good too:

Dressage is a test of obedience:

Now THAT is a beautiful thing indeed, Corin.
Congratulations!

Oooh - pretty! Take another pic tomorrow in daylight!
That's a good enough truck for Junior to pick up a date in, no shame in that at all!
To: RosieCotton
I hope you do feel better! Sleep well!
See, I think he knows how she feels and maybe even reciprocates but at this point, he won't let anything stand in the way of his goal. (And maybe in some really weird way he's protecting her? Like he does the Elrics?)
I'm just hoping she doesn't die in his arms or something dreadful like that.

2j, this is a very good idea! Especially with CostCo starting to sell caskets ...
You should be able to look into the various laws in place in your area, and do this. This would be a kindness, for the families who can't afford much, but who can't do this for themselves.
Years ago, when my mamma was a little girl, death was different. People died at home, and were "laid out" by friends and kin. Richer folk could afford a "funeral parlor," but even then, it was a family-centric affair.
No more. When I buried my mother, I couldn't help but feel that we were paying $5K+ for a minimum of impersonal service ... and the mortician and the owner of the funeral home knew my family.
Think this is another of your great ideas, 2J!

It's a nice shot of the perfect communication that dressage is all about...
Here is a nice extended trot:

What a handsome horse that is! What breeds of horses are allowed in the competitions?

I think that Trader Joes also sells ghee. I'll check it out! If they don't, I'm sure the health food store over in Worcester does. I have to go there anyway cause I'm gonna get a bunch of spices for our #2 son who just moved into his apartment in Austin. I can get 2 to 3 oz. boxes of spices for MUCH cheaper than the jars in the grocery store!
