Upon the hearth the fire is red, |
Still round the corner there may wait |
Home is behind, the world ahead, |
WooHoo!! That's a FINE ride!! My Windstar is Toreador Red, too! Nice color! ;o)
Spices are expensive, aren't they?
Man, I wish the Wal-mart sold curry paste. I'm almost out and I have to make a trip to Wal-mart this week anyway... now I'll have to go to two grocery stores.
I've found I can eat very happily as long as my kitchen contains ingredients for curry or stir fry. I wonder if I'll get tired of eating the same three meals at some point? Sigh, if there was a really good low-carb tortilla chip I'd be happy...
"Where's Bear? or Fedora?"
I was takin' a nap. Guess I should'a been keeping an eye open for sneakin'. . .
Gotta get to bed everyone!
Good night!
Corin - That new truck is purtier than a new speckled pup. Congratulations. Ya done good.
Any breeds are 'allowed' many of these are thoroughbreds, large athletic breeds like Trakehners and other mixes of thoroughbred and other similar breeds called "warmbloods".

This is the one Rosie posted a while back that I used this weekend:
Whole Wheat Tortillas
2 cups whole wheat flour (could use spelt flour)
1 teaspoon sea salt (or less)
1/4 teaspoon baking powder
1/4 to 1/2 cup butter (or oil - I used olive oil)
1 cup warm water
Combine dry ingredients in a bowl, mixing well. Cut in butter, then add water to make a soft, pliable dough. Knead briefly.
Let sit covered with a damp towel for 30 minutes or more. Make the dough into 12 golf ball sized balls, then roll out thin on a well floured board. Bake on a pretty hot skillet until slightly browned, then flip and bake the other side.
What are some foods that are recommended eating to help raise HDL levels? SSQ is fascinated by the info on that site, and hasn't liked the way the Lipitor makes him feel. He wants to arm himself with more info before he goes back to the Doc next time. His ratio wasn't good like 2J's.
You can raise your HDL cholesterol by simple life style modifications. Regular aerobic exercise within your target heart rate and weight loss will help. You can raise the level of HDL cholesterol by the following:
Foods that raise HDL cholesterol include onions, omega-3 acids, and soluble fibers. Eat half a raw onion a day raises HDL (good) cholesterol an average of 25 percent in most people with cholesterol problems.
Eat at least two servings of foods high in soluble fiber. Soluble fiber is found in whole grains, oats and oat bran, brown rice, fruits such as citrus fruit, apples, grapes, etc. and legumes & lentils. The soluble fiber raises HDL levels and helps lower total cholesterol. The wholegrain are also good source of linoleic acid.
Use cooking oils higher in monounsaturated fats, such as canola or olive oil. It is found that monounsaturated fats raise HDL levels.
Increase your consumption of omega-3 fatty acids found in fish, cold-pressed flaxseed oil, safflower oil, sunflower oil, canola oil, dark green vegetables, etc.
Eat at least two servings of soy (phytoestrogens) products. Tofu, tempeh, and TVP (texturized vegetable protein) may help raise HDL levels. Include at least two servings each day.
Avoid trans fatty acids i.e. hydrogenated oil or vegetable shortening (Dalda, Rath, and Vanaspati in India). Choose a liquid or semisoft variety of margarine in your diet Trans fatty acids are found in and many fast foods and french fries, baked goods such as cookies, crackers and cakes. Remember, the softer the spread, the less trans fat it contains.
Avoid refined carbohydrates like sugar and refined flour. These have shown to raise blood cholesterol and triglycerides.
Avoid food sources of cholesterol such as egg yolk, liver, kidney, brains, etc.
Avoid high fat dairy products such as regular milk, cheese and cream.
Reduce alcohol intake. However, alcohol (wine or beer) in moderation may raise HDL levels. However, if your do not drink, don't start to raise HDL, it is not a medicine.
Do aerobic exercise (brisk walking, jogging, etc.) every alternate day.
Note that HDL LDL cholesterol ratio is more important than their individual values.

No, that's not what I have in mind. I want a good, low-carb white corn tortilla chip. I'm picky, and I like what I like. Corn goes with spicy Mexican, wheat doesn't.
If it sounds like Im making excuses, youre probably right.
Have you had a chance to check out the RightGoths site yet?
No apologies necessary to me! It's your story to write at your own pace. I've been busy myself trying to finish these articles I'm writing. Very close to done, but still so much to do.
I looked at the site a bit. There's some good links there for conservatives. I'm not really Goth, though, apart from liking "The Crow" because Brandon Lee was in it.
Thanks, but those aren't chips. One of my favorite meals is taco meat and cheese, eaten on little crispy round white corn tortilla chips... I can go without straight tacos more easily than those things.
Oh well. I have decided to get a few bottles of wine. Days when I am good with the diet, and exercise too, I get a glass with dinner.
Boston Market used to make a killer SW chicken salad...the dressing was the best I had ever had...but they dont make it anymore.
Frito-Lay touts low-carb tortilla chips
That tortilla/meat/cheese combo sounds good! What kind of wine are you having? I had a really good merlot the other day.
I've been buying this jabanero salsa lately that's really good--really hot, though.
I like dark German beer. Never noticed it being fruity--more bitter. I must've ordered a different kind than you're getting.
I'm on a Thai kick, or at least generic asian spicy, right now. Mexican's the exception. It's always the exception. ;-)
Havent been brave enough to try habanero peppers though. Am still working on my chile tepin tolerance.
I have a bumper crop of chile tepin that i am waiting for to turn red. HOT SAUCE!
Sauv blanc, probably. I'll be consulting the wine guide. Might get some other nice versatile white wine.
A good wine, like a sauv blanc, can go with beef if necessary. If one's cheap, and can only open one bottle at a time...
Wine's nice. Beer isn't. It's smelly and you don't have to know anything to drink it.
