The Hobbit Hole XIII - Let them pass! Let them pass!
See our freeper.the-hobbit-hole.net home page! ^

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

...Let them pass! Let them pass!
(Note to dwarves, this is only meant figuratively)

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

Fly through Denver and schedule a nice long layover...

I wonder if there's a way to stop a day or so there on the way, without adding a lot to the total cost of the trip? 'Cause that might be a good way to go!

Hmm... that might be the sort of thing you'd need a travel agent to arrange, but if you can swing it, that could be fun! Apparently there are some really good used bookstores in Denver...

When I went to TN for guitar camp a few years ago, I came back by way of Nashville and stayed there a day or so. As I recall, it only added twenty or thirty dollars to the price. So...I wonder.

That was different, really, though, because I flew into and out of the same state...just different airports.

But it might be worth looking into.

It would be fun!

Wow, it's really raining here. I wonder if you'll get this storm in a couple hours?

We'd better not! I need it to stay clear until at least eight or so this evening...I have LOTS of weeding, weed-whacking, and lawn mowing to do!

Fell behind from all the gigs, huh? Have you had time to watch any more anime?

Haven't seen any since the first four! Probably can watch one or two tonight, provided I get everything else done. I have a lot to do! I'm way behind on laundry and housecleaning, in addition to all the outdoor stuff.

The outdoor stuff is much more fun, though.

Wish I could skip indoors...but Tuesday will be music night, and I'll regret it if I put things off.

With all those bothers, you'd think one would volunteer to mow his sister's lawn...

Heh...actually I've been able to bribe them a few times this year. Free food usually works for Bilbo, if not for any of the others.

Good morning!!

I decided to get up and clean my kitchen this morning before doing anything else...so I got that done. Am just now sitting down with a cup of coffee after polishing off a couple of eggs with cheddar cheese and a sprinkle of bacon bits...

What's the point of bothers hanging around if you can't put 'em to work? Not that mine have done me any good, they're too little to do anything useful.

We went to my littlest brother's baseball picnic last night... it was mostly boring. Made me thankful that he has Down Syndrome, though, not something more severe like some of the kids there had. Saw a mother pushing her probably-teenaged son around in a giant stroller...

Oh, yeah, and there's this local chain of restaurants whose signature is a cookie with a smiley-face painted on. Someone brought a whole box of them - and another whole box from the same place with frownie-faces instead. It was quite amusing to see everyone trying to get a frownie cookie.

Good morning!

I've got an appointment this afternoon to see what's wrong with my ear, hurrah!

I need to clean my kitchen, too...

At least I got most of the dishes done last night. I had several days worth. Yuck...

I had buckwheat pancakes this weekend! With lots of blueberries...sooo good! Felt like cheating. I wouldn't have those everyday, but I think that may become my usual Sunday breakfast.

Well, I love buckwheat and I'm sure I'll have them again someday!

Jen, I'm glad you're going to the doc! That's just what you need to do.

Ok, I'm off...got to spend some time with the jedis. Expect me when you see me.

How long until you get to have grains on Atkins? Is that the final stage?

My apartment has a dishwasher... I think I might have to run it all of twice a week.

Dishes, laundry, cooking: I know how to do all these things. Only, I know how to do them for nine people, not one. We do four or five loads of laundry every day. I'll probably be running two a week. That's so weird!

Did you have any problems like that when you moved out?

Cooking was probably the toughest thing for me. I didn't know HOW to cook for one. I'd end up with enough leftovers to last me a week - if I ate that every meal. And laundry...unless I waited until pretty much everything was dirty, I wouldn't have enough clothes to make up much of a load for dark and whites. And it kinda seemed wrong to run the washer when it wasn't completely full.

Now I have too many clothes...so that isn't as much of a problem. ;-) But yeah, it was an adjustment.
