The Hobbit Hole XII - Tree and flower and leaf and grass

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

...Tree and flower and leaf and grass

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

I always call it Lobelia,

LOL! What a coinkydink! My Middle Earth Hobbit name is Lobelia! That's a pretty flower. I'll have to add it to our landscape when we get the addition all done.

Hello everyone!

Going absolutely insane here today. They powers that be decided that today's torture would consist of trying out a new back-up server which has caused every program to run at 1/4 speed. Fun, fun, fun...especially on a semi-monthly payroll processing day. *sigh*

Combined with the fuzzy resolution and constant announcements regarding meetings, new forms and due-by-the-end-of-today projects, I'm trying to find a happy place for my mind to dwell in.

I need a Care Bear!! *laughing*

Join me in the happy place I've found for myself - thank goodness for nice gentle music. This is why I ripped those Andrew Peterson cds!

I checked yesterday, and the daylily that my cousin got for me from my Granny's yard is blooming! That's kind of amazing cause I brought it back with me when I went to the cousin reunion last June, but never planted it until late summer. I'd kept it moist, but never got it in the ground until almost September. It's a double blossom kind, kinda orangy yellow. I don't have the digital camera right now, but if it's still blooming when Paul get's home from Paris, I'll take a picture! I have a stand of Wedgewood Iris that is just lovely in the early spring and I've never separated them so they're in an ever growing circle just to the left of the front steps. When we get things settled on the construction, I'll have a better idea of where to move them.

Nice place, Ruhy, but I don't know about living in a house made of WORMY wood! LOL! If you were self-employed, that would be an awesome place to live!

Are you committed to staying in FL, or can you move some other place. Do you WANT to move to some other place?

What a cute little baby! It's about half as tall as Momma! At what age is the earliest a mare should typically foal?

Is this something you need to do to "keep up" or something you want to go back to?

It's not stolen! she says indignantly. It's legitimately purchased. I just ripped the songs so I don't have to lug the cds around.

I'd ~love~ to move somewhere else, but I just can't afford to pick up and move with 2 babies depending on me for everything. It just wouldn't be that easy.

If my mom ever decides to sell the house, I could use part of that money to provide a 2 week window to find another job, another place to live and get the heck out of Dodge! :-)

Something I feel like I ought to go to if I want to re-enter the workforce...it's been almost 2 years since I've worked...

As soon as they stop blooming, I have to move some tiger lilies that Nana brought. They're under some trees in a partially shady area, but they're almost horizontal cause they're reaching for the sun. I've got a new spot for them where they'll grow straight.
