The Hobbit Hole XII - Tree and flower and leaf and grass

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

...Tree and flower and leaf and grass

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

Gosh, I hope one of those wraps I sent her didn't go bad and make her sick or worse!

You kilt her.... that's it. That's why she isn't here!

Maybe the family is celebrating the brother's engagement announcement (she posted that over the weekend).

She also mentioned going hiking.

I will. My day is slowly improving. Had a nice read over lunch, yay.

My day would be better if we had running water.

The pumphouse is open and people appear to be working on it... hopefully that means water is coming!

Hey ecurbh, can you ping everybody? Laz needs a hug.

We could always send him a Care Bear.

"Rest in Peace Weezy."

Hadn't heard about that until I read this. That's a bummer. That was one of my favorite shows. I had no idea she was 87!

I always liked it when she bumped heads with the m-i-l.

She was great on the Jeffersons. But I liked it when she was on All in the Family. She could put Archie in his place.

Mother Jefferson? ROFL! Yeah, that was funny.

My favorite thing on that show was the fights between George and Florence.

An actress. She played Louise Jefferson on All in the Family and later on The Jeffersons.

1970s to early 80s. (I think)

I only saw her a few times on "All in the Family"; never saw her get into it with Archie. I do remember Lionel making fun of Archie a lot :)

Never saw either show, but I didn't watch tv until 1992 or so. And then it was just Star Trek.

Heh...I double your parents would've let you watch this in reruns back then anyway.

They dealt with some controversial issues.

The reason we didn't watch tv wasn't so much the content - though that was a large part of it! - but because watching tv did bad things to my attention span. Mom had to cut me off when I was three. I guess I've just never developed the taste for it, yet.
