Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

...Tree and flower and leaf and grass

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

So...at this point her first impression of me is probably that crazy cat woman with the appallingly filthy house.

You sound like good people to me!!! Really Rosie...even if you were the crazy cat woman with the spotless house, people should like you for WHO YOU ARE.

It always hurt me that my mom would never come over to see me (she lives six miles away) because (she said) my house was too dirty. Then I fly-ladied it and it didn't change a thing...she still doesn't come over. It's not the house she doesn't want to be around...

I stayed in three homes in Washington...very different. Scott's, Ramius's beachhouse, and Hair's. In all three homes I felt comfortable and very happy, not because of the appearance of the home...I hardly noticed...but because of the host and the company I kept.

All this to say, she probably really did have allergies and THAT'S something you can't do anything about...someone else is at fault for putting her in a cat home! You are not responsible for the guest someone else imposes on you...the guest is also responsible for themselves. Had I walked into a situation that I physically couldn't endure in WA, I would have happily got a motel room and continued to have a wonderful time.

I'm sure you're beating yourself up over a cluttered home for nothing...if a person is any sort of decent, they won't even see the clutter...if they do, then maybe they aren't worth investing a whole lot of emotional energy into...who wants someone so shallow that you go out of your way to make them welcome and they still don't want to be around you?

Now I'm crying...

I'm a gal, so I don't think of them "that" way...but I still say Mirando Otto is definitely a cutie pie.

Even the one brother who isn't much of a LOTR fan likes to watch the movies 'cause of her...

Right, so it's a "dude flick" too. Something for everyone.

Oh, 2J! You're such a sweetheart...

It's OK, really. I still don't know what she thinks of me...it's been a little odd, since she's not really a super talkative person or anything and hasn't been that easy to get to know...but I'm not gonna worry about it.

Hey, I got fresh blueberries last night, for the first time this year. They're down to about a dollar fifty a pint. Had some with a mock danish for breakfast this morning. Very good!

Rose thinks Ioan Gruffudd (Lancelot in "King Arthur") is cute.

I haven't seen the movie, so I don't know what he looks like, but I'm just a sucker for Welsh names!

Also saw Secondhand Lions. Oh my what a wonderful little movie.

It was a great movie! I also like the actor who played the little boy, all grown up. I think his name is Josh Martin, and he also played Reese Witherspoon's husband in Sweet Home Alabama, another fun movie.

It's been a rough morning...

You know, I'm a hard person to get to know for some reason...I'm all the time saying something accidentally offensive.

But if someone tries to get to know me, then I'm usually so grateful for their effort that I try real hard to be a good friend.

Well, a woman in my Sunday school class tried. She really seemed to want to have a friendship with me...one of the few that really seemed to warm up to me especially after the fight I had with the shrink (which polarized people toward me to an extent).

When I came back to SS after that fight, it was very stressful and she was one of the ones that tried to make me feel welcome and I just appreciated her so much.

Well, she got pneumonia and died last night...

I'm just all tore up. Friends are just so hard to come by...true friends don't care about your cluttered home or that you might ocassionally blurt out an awkward opinion to a "higher up" in your church...they just care about you for you.

Oh, darlin'...I wish I was there to give you a hug. That's rough. I have trouble making friends, too...and partly because of that, I truly, truly value the friends I DO have. Losing someone like that is hard.

She may be in shock over meeting your whole family. Does she have many siblings?

SSQ is a quiet type, so it was a bit of a jolt for him to meet my family. He has 5 siblings (I have 7), but he's on the tail end of the family, and the older ones had grown and left town by the time he was in middle and high school, so he was used to his quiet. HAH! My older siblings mostly stayed around, with their kids, so it was always chaos at my house. He musta liked it, OK, though; 31 years later, and he's still here!
