Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

...Tree and flower and leaf and grass

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

I used to carry Myranda around like that. Didn't know we could do it when I had Jill... but loved that with Myranda!

I could wear her when I worked in the garden! :-)

I sometimes almost wish I could be at my heaviest weight again for a few hours, just so I could fully realize how far I've come.

Here's a suggestion, especially if you have stairs in your house. Get a couple of bags of flour and carry them with you up and down the stairs. It's amazing when you realize that a few months ago, that flour (or whatever you're carrying) was the weight of what was stuck on YOU! Vey enlightening!

This sheet is actually more comfy than the sling is. Only, there is no discretion for when I need to nurse her (they don't make the sheets long enuff for that!).

Well, I always wanted to sit down and relax for that anyway. Nursing was great for relaxing as I recall! :-)

For some of us, that should be bags of potatoes... I pick up my youngest brother sometimes. He weighs just a bit more than the amount I've lost. It's incredible.

I wonder if 'organic' pastuerized milk would produce the same symptoms in someone who's allergic?

I'd think so. Products from bovines that eat pesticide-free soy/grains will differ little from those that eat pesticide-treated soy/grains as far as the fat profile and nutrient content is concerned. Cows are supposed to eat grass. "Organic" milk will probably lack the hormones and antibiotics and thus be marginally better than commercial milk. But pasteurization pretty much nullifies any benefit anyway.

There's a nice collection of citations regarding pasteurization here. A lot of interesting research was done back when pasteurization was being debated. Hence the dates on the research. Now that it's "settled science", no one seems interested in researching it further. No money in it, I suppose. (Yes, I'm kind of a one-note piper these days when it comes to nutrition. But I really like the Weston A. Price Foundation's work- even if they do come off as a little strident.)

drug some trees tuh the burn pile (I love muh tracter)

Way cool... been doin' some of that the past few days too (by hand though - no tractor yet). Been cleaning dead and low-hanging limbs from some of the trees in the back 40. Cut them into burnable 6-foot lengths with the Sawz-all and got them stacked this morning.

Ohyeah... the wonder saw.

I cut up a 22ft sailboat with one of those one time. Into pieces small enough to throw into the pickup and take to the dump. In several loads.

Evenin' evellybody! [sip]

I'm in da Bay Area again. You can just feel the liberalism here, like a stink in the air.

"I'm in da Bay Area again."

You travelling to SF or is there another Bay Area in Washington unknown to us Cheeseheads? :)

Nope, that's the one. SF. More precisely, Menlo Park, a little south of SF.
