Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

...Tree and flower and leaf and grass

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

*drool* I love dark chocolate! I've been getting the fancy kind from the natural foods place and occasionally melting a small piece, mixing in a few nuts and freezing. Only takes a bit to satisfy me, since it's so rich.

I've seen the Lindt 85% though, I'm pretty sure!

You don't have to follow the meal plans!

Well, I told the Mrs. if she wanted us to do it together, she could do the planning. I did the one last year by myself and I've done Atkins by myself. If I had to chose, I'd pick one of them. But since she's interested in this one, I said okay, tell me what I'm eating...

You know, it irritates me a lot of times when Steve takes me for granted...I do things and he hardly notices or really just doesn't even notice or seem to care at all.

But this really was different. When he started Atkins and I threw my whole support behind him...it did not go unnoticed. Not by him or even his co-workers.

He was in school at the time and working full-time and one of us needed to know how to do it. The minute he voiced an interest, I went right then to Walmart and got the book and learned what to do.

Gradually, he has learned the routine himself and now I would say the food prep is about 50/50 (he really is a better cook than I.)

But induction, as you know, is the hardest, most stringent part...and he didn't have to do anything...I prepared his entire meals for the next day and he took it all with him in the morning in a large paper sack.

Not too long ago he commented that his early success was completely because of me and he so appreciated it. It really made me feel good...like I was doing one of the things the Lord put me on the earth for, you know? A real helpmate.

Ok...now I'm going shopping!

I'm waiting for the jedis to finish getting ready so I can go, they're putting on their shoes.

I only gots three bucks...but I love seeing what all I can get with very little cash!

I love thrift stores...I mean, if I can get a Liz Claiborne blouse, well-sown and almost brand new, who cares if I got it at Dillards or the thrift store for 59 cents???

I've been dealing with the repercussions of being un-dead. Hopefully I've gotten everything straightened out and will get an "ok" on the apartment tomorrow.

I like thrift stores, too! At least the clothing place.

I mostly just get books at the Salvation Army store. But it IS kinda cool to see how much I can get for not very much! Paperbacks are a quarter there. I can purchase books I'm just curious about without feeling guilty.

How far from the school is your apartment?

Two and a half miles. It's about a ten minute drive, but I should be able to take a bus.

The mall, and the B&N, is walking distance. In both cases, that's how I wanted it. I'm far enough from school that the party-student types won't be around. And I can go to the bookstore and read when I want to.

I got this blouse at the thrift store...it's my favorite shirt right now...fits well. I don't know the brand name. I really like sleeveless shirts. (I'm really grinning like an idiot in this picture, huh? LOL)

And this one too, I got it at the same place (it's a place for Down Syndrome individuals to work and raise money)...this is a Liz Claiborne blouse. It was brand new, you could tell.

Both shirts cost me 59 cents each.

I'm self-conscious enough that I've never ever worn sleeveless shirts or dresses...

But good deal!

The place I shop (I bought the whole outfit I'm currently wearing there...) is a little more "upscale" than some thrift stores, I guess...it's a consignment shop. Typically they charge three or four dollars for a nice shirt or skirt or pair of jeans. I can handle that!

Oh yeah...I like consignment shops too...bought a lot of my baby and maternity stuff at consignments.

This place...called "Gatesway" has the Down Syndrome people working right there. Now and then there'll be a verbal outburst of some sort and it was a bit startling at first, but now I'm used to it.

I really like the place.

The boys are ready...see you later!

I'm finally able to wear almost-sleeveless shirts, and shorts! I've been wearing the sleeveless shirts as part of an outfit with something on top, but yesterday I was so hot, I just wore the shirt and the shorts. Felt nearly immodest!

I dislike buying clothes from thrift shops. You just don't know who wore it last.

Well, if you were born in a hospital you never know who died on the sheets you were born on! ;-)

There's nothing a little clorox can't clean.

I never wore shorts as a kid. Now...I wear them once in a great while, but usually when I want something cooler I wear skirts.

But I'd like to feel like I COULD wear a sleeveless shirt and get away with it, if you know what I mean. I'm not quite there yet.

That's my take on it, too. If I wash something well with my own favorite detergent...who cares who wore it last? Especially if it's all but new, and I saved bunches of money by purchasing it used.

It's very funny - I got sunburned the other day. It's faded to tan, not that noticeable, except in the sleeveless shirt, because the tan stops halfway up my arm. Today I'm wearing normal sleeves.

We're getting there!

I think I'm gonna fall short of my original goal by a bit (hoped to reach it by the end of August), but hopefully I'll be close. And I'm wayyyy better off than I was.

I sometimes almost wish I could be at my heaviest weight again for a few hours, just so I could fully realize how far I've come.
