New verse:
Upon the hearth the fire is red, |
Still round the corner there may wait |
Home is behind, the world ahead, |
I never noticed any scar on your face... so it certainly can't be all that obvious... ???
Heh. Heh. Heh.
You have to fight me, though, I've had a crush for the last four and a half years.
Interesting developments here today... looks like someone's getting fired at work and that's seriously not good for me, because I don't know how to do his job...
Which is the next book?
I never noticed you hada scar on your nose either.
The scar on my face really is hardly noticeable anymore I think - or maybe it's just that my 40+ eyesight can't see it as well. It is a surgical scar from when I was about 11. All through high school and all it was very noticeable. It's vertical maybe an inch in front of my left ear. Originally it went from my jaw all the way up into my hairline. Looked pretty nasty and of course in school earned me the name scarface from some quarters.
When I modeled in my youth they did my hair and used lots of makeup to cover it... and some professionals showed me some creams and stuff, how to treat it to make it minimize. And of course, I modeled on runways so I was far enough from people that they didn't see it. Now, it looks small and is obscure - at least to me. But, I am glad that I had someone to show me how to make it lessen.
Goblet of Fire.
Ah, see what I just said to Bear about the scar.
No, I don't even feel self conscious about the scar much anymore. When I pull my hair back I feel like it might be seen a little - but not much even then.
I can still feel it though. For some reason, that area is still tender to the touch. After freakin' 35 years!
Evening all.
Thank you to all who have offered prayers and encouragement for my mom and my family.
It appears we have good news and an answer to prayer this evening. My translation has come through three siblings, but the doctors seem to have ruled out the heart.
Based on what my brother said, and some googling, it appears she may have pericarditis which is an inflammation around the heart. But it can cause severe chest pain. When they came to that conclusion they gave her an anti-inflammatory drug and she said that's the first real pain relief she'd had all day.
The condition can be caused by radiation therapy.
While it's possible that this was it all along. I believe it just as possible that the condition could have changed today as a result of prayer.
I didn't go tonite and had planned to go in the morning. I'm not sure at this point. I may wait and go over the weekend. I think I'm too emotionally strung out to decide.
OK...thanks!
And then the last (so far) is Order of the Phoenix?
Oh, that sounds much better than the earlier news! Hope that you'll continue to hear good things! We'll keep on prayin', though...
Glad she's at least in less pain now!
I'm so glad to hear that, Corin!
Yes, that's exactly right.
Ugh, I ought to go to bed but now I won't sleep. Um, this could be an unpleasant situation at work for a while, so I'd appreciate prayer - I really, really don't know how to do this other person's job, and it really has to be done. It's kind of frightening, actually, for me.
I think you are in a position to claim emotional distress to put off decisions tonight. This is great news about your mom. I am rejoicing with you and so glad that our prayers have born fruit!
Will continue to pray for her of course. And also for you in this time.
You know I love you. The Hobbit Hole loves you. And when you hurt, we hurt. (((((Corin)))))
Good news, Corin. :-) Hang in there.
OK, prayers for you, too!
I should be going to bed soon, too. Hope I can sleep with all these bug bites...the mosquitos had quite a feast on my ankles and feet. Sandals have a downside...
BTW, remember I said I really, really like Clark's sandals? Turns out there's a Clark's outlet not too far from here! And the prices are MUCH better than I've seen anywhere else...they had my sandals for something like $30, which granted still isn't cheap, but they're wonderful! Someday when I have money, I'd like to get some Clark's SHOES, so I can wear 'em year round.
Didja notice mine?
Remember those old metal type swing sets? We had one, complete with the teeter/totter. One day after a rain brother and I were going out to play. I was about 3. My brother decided to swing the teeter/totter back and forth to get the water out of the seat.
I bent down to watch the water fall out. I have a mental image of the seat coming toward me...
My mom said I was screaming so badly that she and a neighbor had to wrap me in a sheet to get me to the hospital.
Nine stitches. Still got the scar.
Yes, but I was going to leave at 5:00. Am I the bad son if I don't go until Friday? My brother is still going tomorrow. He had already cancelled a business trip and arranged to be off the rest of the week.
Nope! I never saw yours either! Seems like we are all oblivious to one another's scars! :-)
Imagine that!
Sleep well! I'm glad about the sandals!
So, this means you actually finished PoA, right? And you already answered my first question to everyone (female) who finishes - Moony or Padfoot...
No, I don't think that makes you a bad son at all. Actually, from the experiences with Grama at the hospital, I noticed that *everyone* thought they had to visit the first day or two - and after a couple of days - when she finally felt better enough for company everyone would think they'd visited so no need to come back. This has since made me think that spacing out visits from other people could be more welcome.
