Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
A sudden tree or standing stone
New verse:
Upon the hearth the fire is red, Beneath the roof there is a bed; But not yet weary are our feet, Still round the corner we may meet A sudden tree or standing stone That none have seen but we alone. Tree and flower and leaf and grass, Let them pass! Let them pass! Hill and water under sky, Pass them by! Pass them by! |
Still round the corner there may wait A new road or a secret gate, And though we pass them by today, Tomorrow we may come this way And take the hidden paths that run Towards the Moon or to the Sun. Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe, Let them go! Let them go! Sand and stone and pool and dell, Fare you well! Fare you well! |
Home is behind, the world ahead, And there are many paths to tread Through shadows to the edge of night, Until the stars are all alight. Then world behind and home ahead, Well wander back to home and bed. Mist and twilight, cloud and shade, Away shall fade! Away shall fade! Fire and lamp, and meat and bread, And then to bed! And then to bed! |

Evenin' all.
Turned out the weather weenie is an idjit. After this morning's pretty heavy thunderstorm, it got hot and cleared up. 'cept for one little rain shower that blew thru it was a nearly perfect day, almost....dwarflike...So we opened the pool and had a pretty good day.
I'm takin' a break and waitin' fer dinner. Jr. is mowin' the front yard. I'm tryin' not to appear too excited about it.

"
Lathspell I name you; ill news is an ill guest."--Grima in the movie (I'll go looking in the book in a minute).
IIRC, lath-spell means "ill-news".

*GRIN* I knew that!...I was being facetious...Grima wasn't being very nice to Gandalf at all, calling him ugly names. Stormcrow is another name Gandalf has, but I forget exactly who calls him that one...Grima probably, but I know Denethor hs a few for him as well.
Hubby last night asked about denethor : "what's with the guy who's always eating?" I had to explain that Jackson did a twist on that scene, and it was not really what Denethor was all about.
*feels a rant coming on* so I'll stop now...

Yep. From the book:
"Lathspell I name you, Ill-news; and ill news is an ill guest they say."

Lift = weight lifting routine. My mother's helping me buff up before grad school ;-)
Right now I feel lousy, all my muscles are sore. You could have some of our ribs if you were in the neighborhood! Mmm-mmm!

OK, fair enough :)
Before I put the book up I noticed first Theoden and then Grima called Gandalf "Stormcrow".

OT: welcome back, 'forgot the pepper' guess you'll have to ask 2J bring it to the wedding moot. :-)
Is Miss Kitty forgiving you while she has her fancy feast? :-)
Annie has decided she is not going to be Lucky the cat's (neigbors' cat) new friend. Annie does the whole hissing, screaming, tail thing when Lucky decides to walk within her 'domain' - which is anything that she can see.

Glad you got some pool time in :) The weather here seems to be doing something like that--was rainy up 'til about an hour or two ago but now seems to be getting hot.

Glad you had a good pool day, bit too cool here for it to be 'refreshing' but hey, it was a good day for us.
Did ya tell Jr. just the green stuff and not the flowering stuff. :-)

pepper' guess you'll have to ask 2J bring it to the wedding moot. :-) Yeah 2J, pack a baggie of crushed pepper for WeddingMoot.
Miss Cat was happy to see me and I gave her some Science Diet Light wet food....I've got her off the Fancy Feast. I need to go shopping for Raw Meat Diet ingredients for the cat.
Miss Kitty didn't like neighbor cats in her yard either. And I have...er...had (whatever) a nice concrete driveway for them to stretch out on and a catnip patch to roll in.
To: ExGeeEye
Thank you ExGeeEye! :D :D :D its been a while since I picked the book up.
hubby also asked last night after Frodo was 'got' by Shelob - 'wasnt he wearing the mithril coat?'
Jackson goes "oops!"

your cats are outside cats I take it? how do you keep them around? I'd like to get a cat, but I am not all that certain I want to take up the task of litterbox cleaning and chasing them away from using my brand new wood furniture as scratching posts.

a 2 or 3 percent cost of living kinda raise...we may get it back to when it should have been effective. Which would be June or July, I think...but at least it would mean we WOULD get that. So...I'm praying for that, too!We will pray for that then! Sorry Rosie, I fell asleep on the couch! Back now.

And one of those guys riding by pulled off his helmet ... hot-cha-cha!:-) Nice huh? Rose, I don't know if you ever got through the books or not. But, in the book the men of Rohan talk about Lothlorien with fear. They say there's a witch in those woods and that if any of them go wandering there they never come back. You know where I'm goin' with this. I know ya do. :-)

OT: the left-over ribs etc. are now history, and Gypsy noticed that it is time for her walk.

Actually, my cat is mostly an indoor cat. I let her out when I'm at home and she usually stayed in the yard. She used to go across the street.
Keep them around by feeding them! Hehehe. Seriesly, I got my cat secondhand when she was 6 and she was an all-indoor cat so I didn't have any problem keeping her around. My sister keeps her adopted stray around by feeding him.
Guess you could always get one of those Littermaid things to scoop litter for you.
I suppose that cats have their favorite scratching surfaces. Mine never scratches wood, she likes clawing carpet and uses a carpeted scratching post or a little floor mat.

I've had sashimi, which I understand is like sushi, but with cooked seafood instead of raw. I've had tuna and salmon in that. You can get trays of it at the grocery story nowadays in the Fish market. Trader Joe's also has it.
I like the vegetarian sushi as well. I've seen it done rather artistically. There's a sushi place in Worcester that I went to last year with a friend, so we might take the boys there sometime this week.
