Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

Still round the corner we may meet...

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

I'm a big fan of Alistair MacClean's books

I read a TON of those when I was in high school!

"Call it Courage",

Oh yeah I've read that. It was good. I saw an old "Wonderful World of Disney" adaptation of it several years ago.

Shh... I'm not here, I'm participating in the family movie night. But it's a boring fight scene so I snuck off.

Oh, and I'm scorching a computer and reloading Win2K. Fun, huh? Just glad it's not my pc that needs the tough love.

I'd love to see a Disney adaptation of that! Was it the same title?

I'm getting ready to go to bed.

And tomorrow is my day of reckoning...i.e. the first time I weigh in since I've started this diet. I'm hoping the number will at least be a TINY bit lower than last week, but worried that it won't be. In any case, trying not to get my hopes up too high.

Sneaking? Sneaking?!!! Did you say "sneak"?!!! :)

Reloading Win2K does *not* sound fun! Did it crash or something?

Have a good night, Rosie! BTW don't worry too much on the weigh-in; what's important in the long term is that you stick with it.

I like all those Lugosi B-movies :) He did a ton of stuff like that. Best ones besides "Dracula" were probably "Black Cat" and "Raven" and "White Zombie". The rest weren't as good but still fun.

What was the name of the movie that Humphrey Bogart was in? Doctor X or something? Talk about a bad movie!

"I can make you look like a bulldog...or a monkey!"

OK, NOW I'm goin' to bed.

That one's called Dark Passage, by the way. Don't think that's what OT means.
