Kerry's dog--John Kerry scares me.

Kerry's dog John Kerry scares me.
There. I said it.
Of course, George W. Bush is a bit of a pisser too, but I suspect that he laughs at himself once in a while.
Plus, he's got a dog. Any man who's got a dog can't be all bad.
Trying out a Google search on "John Kerry dog" got some wonderful hits, but it didn't tell me if he has a dog. (And let's keep his his wife out of this-let's nip that one in the bud, OK?)
Since it's now come down to Bush vs. Kerry I have to pick some issue to help me decide which one is to be The Man for the next four years.
Cats are OK too, but I kinda suspect that any cat in the Kerry household is one of those long haired white jobs that has a second job as a movie villian or a prop for the same.
So, if Kerry has a dog just what kind of dog is it? It's gotta be a pure breed-no garbage hounds for him. You know, the type of dog that he has just could be it for me, since I really can't think of anything else positive about him.
Let's face it, Kerry as President is going to mean complete and total gridlock in the government since it's not as if a Republican Congress is going to let him do jack. Maybe that's a good reason to vote for him-there's a lot to be said for gridlock.
Anyway, I just want to know if Kerry has a dog.

I've wondered about this as well.

Isn't he French?
To: Lexinom
I don't think he has a Kerry Blue Terrier. I checked the breed standard
Head
Long, but not exaggerated.

(I am not completely worthless; I can always serve as a "bad example".)
To: SJackson
Kerry is most likely a cat fancier. Liberals and French love cats.

Do you really think he has a Kerry Blue? In which case I would strongly suspect "Kerry" has some ego issues, getting a dog just cuz its breed name matches his. Not good for the dog, either, to be chosen just cuz he's got the same name. Dog is probably ignored otherwise, just used as a publicity ploy/ego booster!
Besides, if John Kerry invented a dog, wouldn't it be more like a "Kerry Red"?

No, I don't think he's got one. They are extremely rare, and expensive. My interest in the breed dates back to childhood, long before John Kerry rose to fame. A relative had some as part of the kennel she ran.
The breed does require more grooming care than any other save for the poodle. Kerrys also love to spar with/attack other dogs, and will kill small animals in the neighborhood. IOW there are some similarities to candidate Kerry.

Yeah, my mother is a conservative, too, and had a cat for 15 years, but I bet if you did a poll here, dog lovers would far outweigh cat lovers. I just wouldn't trust one around my aquarium. :-)

Since the Kerrys went to elaborate lengths to have the fire hydrant in front of their toney Louisburg Square home removed, and making a public spectacle of themselves to boot, I cannot believe they have a dog.
Besides, one of them would have to trail after it picking up poopies, which I can't see Terry or John doing

I found this:
"Origins: The poodle was originally bred to retrieve game from the water. It probably originated in France or Germany over 500 years ago; it was probably bred from the French Barbet (a gun dog)."
All the Standard poodles I've seen were cool dogs-smart, quiet, good with kids. Too bad they usually have those stupid haircuts.
The toys and minitures are freaks of nature and deserve death.

Wrong species.

That's John on the left.
To: Viking2002
That may be.
But then, I don't understand people who "love" 1 species and not the other, either! I love both - well, I LOVE German Shepherds, and I'm not too fond of some dog breeds (e.g. retrievers) but I like them as animals nonetheless. I like both species alot.
Does that make me a moderate?

I don't know if I'd call Kerry Blues "rare" (see: Wirehaired Pointing Griffon), and for expensive call the Euro GSD nuts. Anyway, I'm sure Kerry could afford 1 if he wanted a dog who matched his name for some kind of cutesy publicity ploy. ;-)

1 also has to consider the history of France/Germany. The Bavarian region has changed hands so many times you can't keep track. (Hence the English thought they could get away w/calling German Shepherds by the politically correct "Alsatians" - from what the French call that Strasbourg area they kept taking over periodically, Alsace-Lorraine.) Generally dog nuts have considered Poodles of German origin - even the name is thought to be basically German, such as in "pudle". It's the French who came up w/the stupid clips (big surprise); the best clip is the "sporting" clip, which show people almost never use. But not being a Poodle nut, I'm only sketchy on the history and go by what I recall reading on dogs generally and being at shows. ;-)
