.....Somehow the subject came up: she recounted how another friend of hers ACTUALLY believed that our country was based on a belief in God. Oh, the horror of that, was her fairly explicit reaction.
I then surprised her by agreeing with the other friend and went on to explain why, which the other friend had been unable to do.
I told her that our RIGHTS CAME FROM GOD, and that THEY WERE INALIENABLE. Remember that phrase I asked her gently?
Our form of gov't only prohibited the establishment of a state church and refused to PRESCRIBE forms of religion or belief, BUT that our form of Govt. was based on a belief in God, was Incontestable, and Absolutely necessary for our protection.

Now, I know this article has been going around forever and I know that most of the "noted scientists" quoted are certifiable NUTS, i.e. Paul Ehrlich. Also listed are David Baltimore, Lewis Branscomb, Gerald Fischbach, Neal Lane, Leon Lederman, Jane Lubchenco, Sherwood Rowland, Harold Varmus and ED Wilson.
Can you all point me to a site on the web where I can read some info to answer this delusional friend?
