The Hobbit Hole VI - And Whither Then? I Cannot Say...
Posted on 01/31/2004 9:52:08 AM PST by ecurbh
Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
And Whither Then? I Cannot Say...
The Road goes ever on and on
Down from the door where it began.
Now far ahead the Road has gone,
And I must follow, if I can,
Pursuing it with eager feet,
Until it joins some larger way
Where many paths and errands meet.
And whither then? I cannot say.

Ticks are kind of hard to get, you have to lay on a log for a long time, or something. I've never gotten one and neither have my dogs, though we're out in the woods all the time during the summer. My dad got a few though. Pretty funny getting them out (well, he didn't think so).

I've still got one Entmoot souvenir on my leg... Just one??? Jeez... I have hundreds on my leg, and my feet look like I'm a really clumsy dart player.

So, we have to be up and dressed and ready for this shindig *early* huh? And on a Saturday! sheesh, I'm glad I'll still be on my time. :-D

Amazing how much you can miss in just 20 minutes around here.

That means we won't start drinking till noon.
Orca's will be dern p.o.'d about that. Trib too.

No... I don't think it's fun getting ticks off. But, I have only had a couple or maybe 3 in my life. The mere quantity of chiggers makes 'em a worse nightmare!

What about skeeters? Got them? We got skeeters here that you can throw a saddle on. I'm just thankful that they're not as big as the ones in Alaska.
To: Ramius
Are you series? You still have that many of those bites too? Do they still itch?

Zulu got one tick in her lifetime, and we had been camping when she must've got it.... Right on her eyelid. I pulled it off with my fingernails and held it up to look at it which is where the story went bad.
I peered at it real close and it had a face. As the eebie jeebies started building up in me it wiggled at me. I exploded in panic and threw it right in the air. In the living room. I couldn't find it. I vacuumed and vacuumed, and bought chemicals and then more chemicals.... I knew that little bugger was still in there watchin' me and gestering with its little legs. It haunted me.

we'll just hafta shoot skeeters! Only before we get to the backup keg.

yah. Got lots of the bites. And yes, they itch like fury.
They do seem to be running some kind of cycle though, and it looks like the ones I have are in the final stages. Big black dot with a red bump.
I'm starting to think that the treatment of sandpaper and swabs of Wild Turkey is not working.

I only had about fifteen on each leg - probably because I wore jeans most of the time. They're mostly gone. I think the itching is in my head at this point.
