The Hobbit Hole VI - And Whither Then? I Cannot Say...

Posted on 01/31/2004 9:52:08 AM PST by ecurbh

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

And Whither Then? I Cannot Say...

The Road goes ever on and on
Down from the door where it began.
Now far ahead the Road has gone,
And I must follow, if I can,
Pursuing it with eager feet,
Until it joins some larger way
Where many paths and errands meet.
And whither then? I cannot say.

It was kinda weird and clumsy.... Sean Astin's behavior last night. He kinda sidled up to Bernard Hill as if to help him because he was dragging... and then he made some really clumsy comments about SAG and that his mother had been President of SAG and spoke against the latest trend in making films abroad instead of at home. (Interesting opinion for a guy accepting an award for a Kiwi-made film) He said it so clumsily I wouldn't have got the point if I hadn't seen the statement by SAG President Melissa Gilbert on the same theme: "Buy American" and stop going overseas to make movies cheaper. I didn't realize this was a current politic in Hollywood.

In the end.... John-Rys Davies (A Welshman...not one to have a lot of interest in "Buy American") did push him out of the way in a comedic way.... Perhaps just to save him because he was rambling so incoherently.

I think Sean is a nice man. I think his heart is in the right place. He is young and idealistic. He wants to be more than an actor, but he hasn't found his voice. I hope his good heart keeps him on the right side... even if he will never be conservative. There used to be good patriotic Democrats who would fight for what is right and fight for country. If he won't join our side, I hope he becomes one of those.

Yeah, I kinda scratched my head over that one last night.
It seemed pretty weird.
Not sure what to think about it as I'm honestly not big on actors or TV myself.
So pretty much it was me sitting there with my eyes glazed over half paying attention.
*snort*

I don't know if the Pastor mentioned it at the other Masses, but the Assoc. Pastor didn't say ANYTHING about it at 5:30 Mass. We talked to him after Mass and he said he's planning to see it on Thurs. or Friday, so I hope he'll mention it in his homily next Sunday.

Two killed by Seattle-to-Portland Amtrak train

The Associated Press
CENTRALIA, Wash. (AP) — Two people missed being hit by one Amtrak passenger train but were struck from behind and killed by another Amtrak train Sunday night, authorities said.

...The two victims had just gotten out of the way of a southbound train and were standing in the northbound tracks when they were struck from behind by a passenger train traveling from Portland, Ore., to Seattle, Melonas said.

The sick comedy in this.... is that I would call almost getting hit by one train a pretty bad day....

Out of the blue last night, a long lost cousin called me. Turns out she lives about a mile from us! It was pretty cool talking to her. She is a vey distant cousin on the Frantz side. The funny thing is, she and her family lived in Tulsa when I and my family lived there. Small world. We have a lot in common, we talked until the phone went dead. LOL.

That is VEY cool. Are you getting together soon? I hope?

Well, I'm back. Meeting went well. I'm back in cotton and comfy again. Whoever the guy was that invented pantyhose should have been sentenced to wearing them 24-7 forever!

Gotta get busy though. Have a lot of work to do.

So, like, how many people want to just stand around on RR tracks anyhow? If I was just missed by one train, I don't think I'd wanna be "standing" on another set of tracks. Ya gotta wonder....

Yes... I don't think I would have stopped for a breather until I was clear of ~all~ the tracks.

It sounded like that's gonna happen. Said cousin is between my and Msdrby's mom age and has kids the same age age Msdrby's little brother.

Ad Agengy? Job hunting?

Maybe a drunken stupor is involved. You never know. My friend Benny's ex-wife got drunk on New Years Eve about 5 years ago and passed out beside a railroad track. Her foot was on the track. Yep, she got run over and her foot amputated. She lived.... but.... no foot.

Nope. Shopping for a company to do marketing videos for the college. I'm now the recruiter for high school students in addition to my regular job. I'm doing 2 full-time jobs now. Going to severly cut into my freep time.

Back to work now.

If he can learn these four this week, he can get checked off on 7, that means he only has four more to do!

That's neat! :) At that rate he'll have every song in the hymnal memorized in a few years and won't need a hymnal! :)

Catching up on the morning's posts here. Nothing particularly new here this morning. Did learn over lunch that the wolf killed on the trail here is one of many--I guess people around here have been hearing howling lately. There's deer in the woods in the backyard, so it's only a matter of time before they show up here--that should be interesting! Other than that not much new yet for me today.

I don't want to be, but it's off the the salt mines for me, as soon as I'm done getting ready. Had a nightmare that it was Tuesday and I'd forgotten to work out.

Reminds me of my recurring nightmare that I'm still in high school and I forgot to take a class I needed to graduate, so I have to go back another year--LOL!
