The Hobbit Hole VI - And Whither Then? I Cannot Say...
Posted on 01/31/2004 9:52:08 AM PST by ecurbh
Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
And Whither Then? I Cannot Say...
The Road goes ever on and on
Down from the door where it began.
Now far ahead the Road has gone,
And I must follow, if I can,
Pursuing it with eager feet,
Until it joins some larger way
Where many paths and errands meet.
And whither then? I cannot say.

So, if y'all could send along any prayers and well-wishes for her to have a good interview, they would be appreciated! Definately Bear, and Rose! Good luck!

You have my prayers, for sure!
Remind us again on Friday!

Maybe he just didn't have the requisite equipment to stand up to the other guys.Maybe it's my attitude, but IMO that guy that I am not surprised at saying that - he's one of the biggest wussies I've known. You know the type of whom I speak. I'd think anybody could stand up to him.
I know, I know... guys don't always tick the way we wimmin think you do.

were women that I wanted to deck too after about an hour.Yep. Know that of which you speak. Hate to say it... but it is very true.
Ya know, typically that's why those guy conversations I've overheard over the years don't bother me. When you work with the guys all the time you either know that that's just their BSing method of venting - or - they really live that way and they and their wife/girlfriend deserve what they're getting.
The instructor who surprised me by being in this conversation was new here this year.... started in August. I just didn't expect the vehemence and blanket hatred of wimmin in general from him. But, he is new.... and now I know.

Thanks everyone... her interview is scheduled for Friday morning (normally, one of her days off). I will try to post Friday morning before we head over there!

So...would getting this job mean you'd be able to make Wedding Moot?

would getting this job mean you'd be able to make Wedding Moot?Well, not by itself, but it would help. And I think it would lead to a much better career path within the company, since she would be doing database and analysis work rather than phone technical support.

Just found out that one of my co-workers at one of the other campuses had a head-on collision with a cow last night. She's in ICU - pretty bad. Prayers will help I am sure. Judy - her name is Judy.

I have a prayer request myself. Please, It would greatly be appreciated.
I will try to keep it short.
My dad, Joe, has a very bad alcohol addiction, to put it mildly. He has been in and out of centers to help him and nothing has worked. ONLY GOD CAN! At this point, in his life he is on meds for anxiety and depression. These meds are being prescribed to him to fight the alcohol desire. The BAD thing is he pops these pills with a drink. And I am not talking beer. He drinks a pint or more a day of hard liquor.
And I know I am giving you alot of personal details BUT I want these prayers to be specific PLEASE.
He called me Friday night. I could tell from his voice he was drinking and was very drunk. He said he had been awake for a week straight. He said he got up Monday and decided he was just gonna quit cold turkey all by himself. And he had gone all week without a drop. BUT He said he was so high strung from the with drawls he would stay up all night pacing the floor. He is a postman so he walks a 13 mile route during the day. He said when he got home Friday night he was so exhausted he just had to have one drink. And of course he popped in a few pills at the same time. Before he knew it he had gone crazy.
Then he called me Sunday and said he was better. And I thought he was. He sounded sober.
BUT then he called me Monday from his route and he said he DID NOT remember either of our phone conversations AT ALL. He had a total black out of the entire weekend. He had drank so much.
Please be in prayer with me!

It's hard for him to do it alone... The habits are much more than withdrawals.... Would he go to any kind of ongoing treatment group?

Will pray PQ. My dad fought the demon of alcoholism.

He did try about 10 years ago when he was stationed at Dyess Air force base in Abilene, TX but then he was transfered to Greenland for a year. Then he came back and retired in Shreveport LA. He has been there since.
