The Hobbit Hole VI - And Whither Then? I Cannot Say...
Posted on 01/31/2004 9:52:08 AM PST by ecurbh
Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
And Whither Then? I Cannot Say...
The Road goes ever on and on
Down from the door where it began.
Now far ahead the Road has gone,
And I must follow, if I can,
Pursuing it with eager feet,
Until it joins some larger way
Where many paths and errands meet.
And whither then? I cannot say.

Did Ellis Peters write anything else?Oh yes! She wrote some mysteries that take place in the early twentieth century, too. If you have an online database at your local library, check it out. I don't know how many she wrote as Edith Pargeter; they're usually filed under Ellis Peters.

We finished the first season of Jeeves and Wooster on DVD last night. They are even funnier than I remember them! We've got Season 2 in the Netflix Queue, after X-2.

It don't look up to flylady standards in here either. Flylady doesn't like perfectionism, so if you're happy with it, it's fine!

Well I'll just funkle on outta here! Today is Boy Scout Sunday, and the Scouts are going to 11:00 Mass. I gotta get there early to reserve a couple of pews for them. I sure hope more show up than just Joseph and the other boy I've heard from!

Well, after last night's torture of the animated "LOTR", I will be looking forward to a this afternoon.I saw it in the theater, out of desperation. I figured it would have to be animated, since there was no movie technology, or Hollywood budget, to do it justice. I was so traumatized by it, I've blocked everything out except for the "where there's a whp" song.
Actually, I do remember being highly offended by the portrayal of Sam as a retarded Buddy Hackett. But there is no way I'd own this DVD as part of a LOTR "collection". It was just too awful to contemplate.
I left the theater despairing that the story could ever be done right. Which made my first viewing of PJ's FOTR so thrilling in its first few minutes,

and I ran across a box of Beanie Babies I had another though if you havent mailed them yet. We went up north today and there were sooooo many kids out with the nice weather. I was thinking if you put them each in a ziplock with some candy I could put some in each vehicle of the convoy, and make a little parade for them as we go by. Just a thought.

I think it is neat that you want to give things to the kids there. Have a good day-evening, smaagee!

I'm one of those strange types that actually
likes the weirder Chihuly stuff. I like his Persian and seaforms the most, but I'm quite fond of most of his stuff.
Can't afford any of it though...it's a house mortgage for a small glass bowl kind of thing. Not surprised the master thieves (Clintons) would take off with it...they're low-lifes who certainly know how to read a price tag.
Didn't see any photos of those rancid Peletier protesters we came across (good!)

So ya had a great time yesterday huh? I bet ya'll need to get together and moot more often - if your work allows! I love that photo of your dogs! They are darlin'!
I almost hate to ask you about your job anymore Scott! But, since I'm not hearing stuff on the news down here anymore it's got to be gettin' a little better. Well, I hope!
For some reason those Peletier protesters always pick the WalMart parking lot in Waco. ha! Like WalMart shoppers are gonna do something for 'em! LOL

I am slowly making some progress in the job...I'm working with the police and fire depts a lot right now and some things on the economic development front and in tax code overhaul. I'm also trying to fill out my full complement of staff...with two, maybe three, hires coming in the next month. I can certainly see the way through the big bad (the event that's always been in the news), which is good because that's really why I'm there. Getting the city beyond that and moving toward restabilization is what I want to do here...then jump to something bigger, better and a little less invasive on my personal life! Couple of years should be enough, then cash in the success with a jump.
To: smaagee
Oh, I haven't mailed em yet, and probably won't be able to for a week or two. That's a GREAT idea about the ziploc bags, though. I'm going to dry clean all of the Beanies, and putting them in the bags will keep them clean during the shipping and being hauled around by y'all! I'll get a big bag of lollipops from B.J.'s next time I'm over there as well as a few boxes of bags!
