The Hobbit Hole VI - And Whither Then? I Cannot Say...

Posted on 01/31/2004 9:52:08 AM PST by ecurbh

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

And Whither Then? I Cannot Say...

The Road goes ever on and on
Down from the door where it began.
Now far ahead the Road has gone,
And I must follow, if I can,
Pursuing it with eager feet,
Until it joins some larger way
Where many paths and errands meet.
And whither then? I cannot say.

May your dreams be filled with Samwise Gamgee!

Now that would be nice!

Night!

I wasn't me last night. I was a gamer, for one thing... also there was a cute gamer guy, which wouldn't likely happen (sigh)...

Heee, I think the game I was in was called "Neverquest Dungeons". The only games I've ever really heard of being NN, Everquest, D&D, and, um, "Kobolds Ate My Baby" - which is the only rpg I've ever played.

Dark elevators are spooky. But I'm going nuts trying to remember where I've seen that guy--he was like an evil nerd in some movie. . .

And then the Eeevil corporate people took the gamers hostage and we had to free them from inside the game.

Tron

I must be really boring because I'm always "me", but different, in my dreams. Sometimes I'm happy and carefree and other times....well, let's just say that sometimes I'm not so great. :-(

Neverquest Dragons sounds like it could be a real game! :) I never played Kobolds Ate My Baby--is that fun? I like D&D, Call of Cthulhu, and historical wargames like Axis & Allies.

How do the happy and carefree ones go? Are those the ones with LotR characters? :)

It was weird. Very simple, very odd. I'd like to game but I don't have people to game with, and online gaming would be too addictive... we have three EQ addicts in this house, that's enough.

I've had dreams where I was a Hobbit, living in the Shire and my biggest problems were figuring out what to fix for elevenses! Those are great dreams!

I've never seen Tron in its entirety, either, but I feel like I've seen it from seeing so many pieces of it, plus that one Simpsons episode where Homer went into the Tron world :)

I'm more inclined toward design, rather than implementation.

An implementers' nightmare. A designer that hasn't done what they do. :-)

I don't mean to be flip about it. Quite the contrary. You're smart, and you'll do very well in whatever you choose to do.

Just don't get cocky. :-) I took a really cool class in Expert Systems when I was going for my MBA (no, I didn't finish it... long story). Had to develop an expert system. Was really cool. Had big fun doing it. Problem is... is that it is a really neat solution in search of a problem. It's now six or seven years later and still expert systems are very, very few and far between. I'm shocked, really.

That's the game!

As I recall, we were all killed by a wall of falling cows.
