Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Where Many Paths and Errands Meet...
The Road goes ever on and on
Down from the door where it began.
Now far ahead the Road has gone,
And I must follow, if I can,
Pursuing it with eager feet,
Until it joins some larger way
Where many paths and errands meet.
And whither then? I cannot say.

I went to one of Tom's graduations. It wasn't basic because we didn't know him then. But, he thanked me for coming several times because he had never had anyone travel to any of his army graduations. For Myranda and I it was a good excuse to see them and a nice vacation to El Paso. But, it meant a lot to him. I was glad we went.

It is evidently abuse reports that would have triggered a problem. Evidently, the way the database works, when the Mods have to be "in" a really big thread deleting posts, the entire system gets bogged down.
I think it is good that it is not un-noticed that our thread has very few abuse reports or management input needed! I think they kinda wanted to see the limit reached!
To: HairOfTheDog
Eeek!
I hope that the request of my deletions of the threads haven't caused any headaches..I have had 3 so far..my mistakes.

Those aren't nearly as bad as the ones Suzi got of me! I was gonna post one of the "a$$ over teakettle" shots in response to that, but for some reason they're not coming up on my York Photo site! I'll have to try again later, or tomorrow! ;o)

That's about average for our threads..... no problem! Not like threads where they are in there every day dealing with unpleasant angry folk!!

Sorry to hear about your dad. My prayers will be for him and for your mom and for you tonight. I don't really know how hard this is. My mom is kind of the same way but not as bad. She did once leave a hospital after being told she was having a heart attack. They were taking too long and she decided she wasn't. She disconnected and went home. Lately though she has been taking things more serious. She goes to her heart doctor and her regular doctor when she is supposed to now.
They are people of the rage, and will not go gently into that good night, you know. So I try and rest better on that thought. And pray. It's what I can do. I've rested a lot better lately knowing all these good people are praying for her too. :)

All the past times, I have dealt with females, and they were nasty to me. Today, I dealt with a male and, WOW, I think we had a break through! He was polite, informative, helpful, and sympathetic to my concerns. You know, I have that experience a lot too. Howcome dealing with wimmin is so tedious? I've always found it *much* easier to work with men professionally as well. *sigh* I hope I'm not like that.
I was just thinking that about myself yesterday. I have a tendency to sound brusque when I answer the phone. It's intentional --- quite often, the people who call have agendas other than obtaining assistance fixing their problem. When I rap out "Good morning. Thank you for calling Lazy E Tech Support; my name is Rose. May I have your express service code or service tag number, please?" I am imagining a g'nad-type barking at some miscreant in one of his detention classes. <sly grin towards the Master Educator>
Yesterday a customer said I was irritated with him. I wasn't ... but it bothered me that he would think so. (Consequently, I spent 30 minutes on a 2-minute call.) And yet, if I come across as all sweet and caring on the phone, customers will think they can roll me for whatever they want, or think that I'm a know-nothing female. (Women are the worst at that, too!)
Conflicts of perception ...

She saw the surgeon again on Friday. He gave her much more information then. He said they won't really know how much will be required until they do the surgery, and check the lymph nodes to see if they are effected. She goes next to the oncologist and then the plastic surgeon. She was making those appointments today. Then she sees another surgeon for a second opinion. And then her heart doctor needs to be involved. So it will be a while before she has the surgery.
I would do what you just said too, let the doctors all make the call. I think I would also have them take care of both breasts, if it is necessary to do the one, so that I never had to worry about this thing again. But that is me. Mom says, 'well i never have had much, but what I have I want to keep!' ugh She's a tiny little woman, 120 lbs when wet. But she's ornerier than a skivvied gondorian in viking garb.

Wonder if we could get some of those EMT scissors donated? We need to look into that. I have one person in particular I will ask. A quick search shows EMT snips go for about $3, quantity of one. I'm sure I could do better in quantity with a bit more shopping. Maybe each knife will also be accompanied by snips from now on. I could use an electric engraver to put a "HH" on each.
I did include an extra pair of snips that I sent you for Tom. I wonder if he thought they were useful? I know snips would be useful in the boondocks for trimming foliage for camouflage, opening older-style MREs, etc.

Subject: Send God
An atheist professor was teaching a college class and he told the class that he was going to prove that there is no God. He said, "God, if you are real, then I want you to knock me off this platform. I'll give you 15 minutes!"
Ten minutes went by. He kept taunting God, saying,"Here I am, God. I'm still waiting." He got down to the last couple of minutes and a Marine just released from active duty and newly registered in the class walked up to the professor, hit him full force in the face, and sent him flying from his platform.
The professor struggled up, obviously shaken and yelled, "What's the matter with you? Why did you do that?"
The Marine replied, "God was busy; He sent me."
Life is good.
