All the past times, I have dealt with females, and they were nasty to me. Today, I dealt with a male and, WOW, I think we had a break through! He was polite, informative, helpful, and sympathetic to my concerns. You know, I have that experience a lot too. Howcome dealing with wimmin is so tedious? I've always found it *much* easier to work with men professionally as well. *sigh* I hope I'm not like that.
I was just thinking that about myself yesterday. I have a tendency to sound brusque when I answer the phone. It's intentional --- quite often, the people who call have agendas other than obtaining assistance fixing their problem. When I rap out "Good morning. Thank you for calling Lazy E Tech Support; my name is Rose. May I have your express service code or service tag number, please?" I am imagining a g'nad-type barking at some miscreant in one of his detention classes. <sly grin towards the Master Educator>
Yesterday a customer said I was irritated with him. I wasn't ... but it bothered me that he would think so. (Consequently, I spent 30 minutes on a 2-minute call.) And yet, if I come across as all sweet and caring on the phone, customers will think they can roll me for whatever they want, or think that I'm a know-nothing female. (Women are the worst at that, too!)
Conflicts of perception ...

Oh... dear... you have NO IDEA (well... maybe you do...) how much I identify with this.
That's why I have decided to become:
http://www.arrogantbastard.com/ I wouldn't recommend it for everyone, but it works for me. :-)

Hmm, yeah, mebbe so, but *you* cannot ruin my credit the way this Health Insurance Company has/does. I have called tech support on occasion, and, male or female, have never had complaints (with the exception of the telephone company regarding DSL and LINUX).
I get really tired of month after month getting "past due" and "final notice" nasty-grams from collection agencies in regards to the same old claims not having been processed by ~them~. COBRA is just a plain nightmare.
