The Hobbit Hole V - Where Many Paths and Errands Meet...
ecurbh

Posted on 12/11/2003 2:07:57 PM PST by ecurbh

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

Where Many Paths and Errands Meet...

The Road goes ever on and on
Down from the door where it began.
Now far ahead the Road has gone,
And I must follow, if I can,
Pursuing it with eager feet,
Until it joins some larger way
Where many paths and errands meet.
And whither then? I cannot say.

RTC Great Lakes Mistakes, ILL. Just outside of Chicago. I don't know what it is like in any weather except below freezing temps. AND, from what I have gleened, it has changed completely since I was there almost 10 years ago.

Okay. I had forgotten what he'd said about the place. Originally he wasn't sure where he was going to be going. He had asked me if I'd come to his graduation and I told him that if it was anyplace I could drive to in a day I'd try to be there. I don't think I'll make it that far though.

Evenin All; a quick post and replies.
Hearing went well, the snow prolly cut down on attendance somewhat but there were still plenty of people asking questions. Drove home at 30 mph on the interstate, only a few idiots figuring on driving 60. Listening to the ROTK theme song, nice snowstorm, twerent bad at all.

WN; great knifes stories, glad they are being put to good use.
g'nad; nice shots of the homestead, "it's not the hills being high, it's the valleys being low".
2jedismom; started at 3pm, still snowing, roads all snowpacked.

Am I to assume that your answer is yes? :-D

Okay, I already know the answer to that. I gotta get my nails done this week. They're needing it really badly. *sigh* But, they aren't broken. All intact. :-)

Hi OB. How is Samantha? I haven't kept up well but I did see a post that mentioned she was in treatment again.

Any experience with Midland GMRSs? I can get these for about $50 per pair. Same 2 watts of power allowed to all the other GMRS radios.

I was able to get into the Audiovox site. There are several phone numbers and email addresses for various functions. I think a call or email to their coporate communications department, telling them we're going public to praise Motorola and slime them, might get some results. Heck, we only want to get working radios to our troops, so they can get what they paid for out of their own pockets.

I haven't heard back from Steve yet as to how many radios are involved. If necessary, I'll put more knives on hold until the radio problem is fixed.

WN, great stories from Tom. It warms my heart to think our little knives can do important stuff. Of course, you know that from your outdoor adventures.

Maybe we should consider giving away EMT scissors in our care packages. That was a good tip in the Ranger Rick Digest to keep a pair in stuck in the top of your boot, so you can cut through belts and webbing when riding in vehicles.

It's humbling to realize that our gifts, sent with love and joy, can sometimes have life-and-death consquences. So far, "life" has been the winner. Maybe it's the prayers that accompany them.

Well, a different protocol was started before Christmas, she goes back Wednesday for another dose. She has good days and not so good days; we are thankful for the time, although we know it isn't going to be a long time.
Thanks for asking.

Not far at all, and we will send word when it happens!

We'll be just through the Dimensional Door, two threads down from the Junior Detective thread, next to America the Right Way, and around the corner from the Guild.

You should try to go to a basic graduation sometime. They are cool. Before I went in, I thought they were no big deal, and kinda scoffed at the thought inviting my parents. Then, As time wore on, I realized it was a big deal because it would be the first time to SEE my parents in the previous two months, and the only time I would see them for at least the next two months. We had to go to tech school right after graduation. (Which was a new rule, evidently. Used to be there was a break in between basic and tech school)

I will wholeheartedly agree with all of that WM. When I asked Tom if the knives were useful I just expected a "yes." It really touched me to hear *how* useful.

Wonder if we could get some of those EMT scissors donated? We need to look into that. I have one person in particular I will ask.

You know...

It's sorta funny how no mention was ever made of thread three causing any troubles... and it went to the limit.

Didn't know you'd lost a little brother when you were small. Yep, even with all the kids around, I'm sure your Mom still thinks about him, wondering how he'd fit into the mix.
