The multiple, nearly-simultaneous nukes are chilling.

Every time I see that kind of scene it creeps me out. It was very well done on this show and kept on going. The live newscast that goes poof was chilling. It reminded me of a couple of movies back in the 80's (the crazy scientist with a bomb on a ship in Charleston, Countdown to Looking Glass, By Dawn's Early Light, etc.).

It's difficult to compare this new version to the old one. The old one was for kids. This one isn't. I don't like the macho woman Starbuck. I do like the new Baltar. I see him as Clinton - his personal corruption leads to national tragedy.

The old show had a great slew of guest actors like Lew Ayres, Ray Milland, Wilfred Hyde-White, Fred Astaire, to name a few. When they were on screen they gave the show some real class. Yeah the old Galactica was sort of cheesy. I don't think most fans are proclaiming it to be high art. But it was a fun show and I don't need a dark, cynical, "adult" version bearing its moniker. It's BGINO as far as I can tell.

Don't forget Lloyd Bridges and the Battlestar Pegasus episodes, which were some of BG's best.

The whole thing was a disapointment. A woman Starbuck, Apollo mad at his dad, Boomer an asian woman.. give me a break. I thought at least they would start at the end of the old show and move into the future.

Galactica 1980 : All copies of that show should be destroyed. No, not just that, all record of it's existence should be destroyed!

Seriously, I'm impressed. The problem with the original Battlestar Galactica was, with a few exceptions, it failed to live up to it's potential.

This version is doing a much better job.

Why didn't Buck nail her in the first episode?

The same reason John Crichton didn't nail Aeryn Sun in the first ep--she would've kicked his ass.

I liked it.

I'm a little worried that the next episode is gonna go all PC on us, but I've got my fingers crossed.

Yes, it does have that nuke-on-the-ship-in-the-harbor-caught-on-live-tv-news-broadcast aspect to it... I've seen lots of footage of the 50's A-bomb and H-bomb tests, which are awesome, and even beautiful, but not gut-wrenching, whereas the nuke scenes here are truly visceral...

Wilma was begging him to do her in the first episode. My teenage mind could not comprehend such ummm, gayness.

I'm been watching since 9 PM and it's now 12:20 AM! I'm watching it twice!

It's very well done. I remember the original with Richard Hatch, Dirk Benedict and Daddy Cartwright. The Cylons are super scary this time around. I'm impressed!

Jamie Bamber plays Apollo. In Horatio Hornblower on A&E, he played Archie, Horatio's best friend, in the first two seasons.

whoops there goes Stands With a Fist. hmm, thought she was a keeper. Anyway I could do without the overdone Apollo-Adama Father-Son Issues Cliche.

Typical ploy... she and he are not gone... remember he was playing around with the "pulse generators" from the Galactica just before the report of a 50 megaton Nuke. Why would the cylons use a nuke on that little passenger ship. They didn't on any other except battlestars.

Thay'll be back for more angst and conflict.

It was interesting that the government offered to make a total and unconditional surrender and the Cylons didn't even reply. Must have been democrats.

LOL! The Democrats are the enablers of terrorists.

Yes, this miniseries has all the echoes of 9-11. Or future terrorist tragedies.

You better still be able to run DOS games - forget it if your running XP.

Come on people, set this apart from the original, it's good SciFi, and a good look at the human dynamic when the chips are down.

Don't try to read current events into the story, they aren't there.
