For me, Thanksgiving is a day of revenge on all turkeys.
And the story of the turkey attack a moral lesson for all on Thanksgiving: Eat them before they get you.

Moonlit Garden

My garden on this moonlit night
Presents an unaccustomed sight.

Grecian columns in graceful line
Their fluted rounds of chaste design

Without the summer's filigree
Of leaf and vine embroidery,

Stand out like some Ionian dream,
So white and beautiful they seem.

The moon of silver sailing high
Throws in relief against the sky,

The poplars, bare of leaf and gray,
While in their tops are stars at play.

Out of the silence comes a note --
Elfin music, at first remote --

Then coming nearer, proves to be
The pipes of Pan in lyric glee.

The Huntress and her Nymphs advance
The Muses sing, the Graces dance.

And in the moonlight's lustrous sheen
They reenact a classic scene.

The lost Atlantis reappears
In this, -- a dream of other years.

As moonight fades when day's begun
With dawn's approach my dream is done.

I'm finally back--my computer was about to get tossed out the window! I so need a new system.

My parents listened to a radio station called The Beautiful Q that was totally elevator music. We weren't allowed to listen to music in the car unless it was on that. LOL Fortunately, I had two older sisters who knew how to find the good music. Going to the Pizza Inn buffet was always great because they had a jukebox with all the best songs, we drove my parents crazy playing it. Heheheh. I really do have an ecclectic taste in music and like everything from classical to heavy metal. I'm 32 so our musical memories are probably pretty close. The acts I heard most were Men At Work, Asia, Duran Duran, Don Henley, Toni Basil (Oh Mickey!), Survivor, Journey, The Fixx, Van Halen (1984 is the best song ever), The Cars, Pet Shop Boys, Depeche Mode, Erasure, Rick Astley, Corey Hart, Scorpions, Culture Club, and my all time favorite band, Rush.

That reminds me I need to make a copy of my new Sarah McLachlan CD because I keep dragging the original in and out of the house/car/office at the risk of scratching it to pieces.

Oh ... thank you, do you have any idea how many gardens I downloaded before finding one I felt like using? I found one with a statue of Pen but there was a real person in it. Didn't know if that person wanted to be on this thread! LOL

La Belle Dame Sans Merci

Ballad.

I.
O WHAT can ail thee, knight-at-arms,
Alone and palely loitering?
The sedge has wither’d from the lake,
And no birds sing.

II.
O what can ail thee, knight-at-arms!
So haggard and so woe-begone?
The squirrel’s granary is full,
And the harvest’s done.

III.
I see a lily on thy brow
With anguish moist and fever dew,
And on thy cheeks a fading rose
Fast withereth too.

IV.
I met a lady in the meads,
Full beautiful - a faery’s child,
Her hair was long, her foot was light,
And her eyes were wild.

V.
I made a garland for her head,
And bracelets too, and fragrant zone;
She look’d at me as she did love,
And made sweet moan.

VI.
I set her on my pacing steed,
And nothing else saw all day long,
For sidelong would she bend, and sing

I remember Blue Murder and had that CD when it came out. "We all fall down" was a very catchy, rockin tune. I've looked for it this afternoon and it appears it does not want to be found. DH will look for me. He can find anything.

So here is a little tune to bring back some memories for you while we prepare for the Macy's Thanksgiving day parade. The one singing this song was a 15 year old run away. Hope she made something of her life.

Meek, I think that was probably one of the cruelest things you could ever do to me. No more pictures of Texas. Waaaaa....sniff.....sob.

I seriously want to come home for good, but I don't see how we can do it for awhile. Keep the home fires burning for us. I hope to see you again and meet your new wife in the spring.

Depeche Mode came out with a new CD about a year ago or so.
Kinda funny tothink about it that way.
I grew up listening to some stufffrom before I was born, Pink Floyd and The Cars being main staples, and yes our musical 'landscape' is similar in some respects.
Though I have yet to run into someone who likes classical AND gothic music, 80's thrash metal (extremely hard to find anymore, and one NEVER could get the band's names.) and modern rock.

Sis' sandwich was store bought chicken that we'd had for dinner, that had been seasoned and was somewhat buttery.
And, admittedly, it was quite delicious.
Unfortunately, she hogged it all.
