.................................................................

The Poetry Branch has been in limbo since the prior hostess left FreeRepublic April 15th 2003. We've since learned that said hostess has lost her posting privilege. That being the case, and Jim Robinson having given his ok, I wanted to renew the thread.

FreeRepublic is blessed with many fine poets, and we look forward to seeing their poems posted on FR once again. There were many non-poet FReepers who visited the Poetry Branch for the camaraderie; we hope they will return.

I would like to invite everyone to visit and relax at Poetry and Potpourri. Hopefully you will renew old acquaintances for chatting, sharing jokes, telling stories, posting cartoons, etc. Everyone needs a place to escape from the everyday news, make Poetry and Potpourri that place.

I don't know if he can help with this or not, but I will alert him to these pings.

I believe that it would be a good idea to have the art work photographically copied and restored if necessary, but what can be done to preserve the original images, I don't know.

Maybe JK will have some suggestions.

Well, I am aware that there are techniques to remove the acidity of teh apaper, and to stabilize it.
But I am not aware of anything near me that would be useful.
The only places I know that might be able to point in the right direction are museums like the Met, but they're no longer interested in real art these days.

Hello everyone. I'm back from my Hawaii vacation. It was great. Now I'm leaving tomorrow for the weekend in Chicago.

This may seem a silly request, but would y'all please pray for my kitty Sasso? He got in a fight while we were gone and has wounds that absessed. He had surgery today and died on the operating table but the docs were able to do CPR and bring him back. He's in bad shape and I'm really upset and worried about him. Thanks in advance. Jen

Hi Jen, oh my...your poor kitty. Prayers for Sasso. I feel so bad for you. Pets are part of the family. Prayers for you too Jen. Take Care

P.S. Not a silly request at all.

Oh, how awful! Thank goodness the Vet was able to revive him.

No, that is not a silly request. I believe in prayer and in a God who hears prayers, even for our innocent animal friends. Yes, I will say a prayer for your sweet Sasso.

Evening friends. Happy TGIF all!

Never a lonely Dreamer

Romantic beings following stars
So if no stars shine down tonight
How will my heart be guided
Will I be turning left or right

Then I drifted away in dreams
A distant voice called from afar
Into my night came bright moonlight
He had entered to bring me a star

Placed tender lips upon my brow
Could he feel my racing heartbeat
Then pillow stories and pillow talk
He had walked a thousand miles
Now a mystery he will never be
We will share romance and dream
Under the star he had brought to me

There is never a lonely dreamer
If dreams they are willing to share
He says his light will shine nightly
I now dream and know he is there

I'm praying for your cat Sasso, Jen. I'm glad he is back, and with the help of God he should recover.

My beloved dog Gizmo --a Miniature Pinscher died last Saturday. He had diabetes. I was overwhelmed by sadness, but on Wednesday I had the opportunity to get a beautiful Bichon Frise. He'll be 8 weeks old tomorrow. He is the most adorable and lovable little dog; I fell in love with him right away. I will never forget Gizmo, but with God's help my sadness has subsided.

I am so sorry Victoria. Our pets bring such joy into our lives, heartbreaking when they get so sick.

Wishing you much happiness with your new pup. Have you named your new pup?

Welcome.
I'm hoping Sasso the kitty kitty is made of sterner stuff than I.
Many have 'declared' me dead in years prior, but I'm still around.
Hopefully he pulls through to chase bugs and be cute in the sunbeams for many more years to come.
