Al Qaeda again threatens New York, Washington and Los Angeles - Daily Terror Threat

A new message was posted in the last few hours by the Jeddah-based al-Qaeda-linked Al-Islah (Reform) society calling on Muslims to flee New York, Washington and Los Angeles in advance of major al Qaeda attacks in those cities. This is revealed by DEBKAfile.

The message accuses the United States of predetermining its end (doom) by its policies. ?The Jews rule the Pentagon by remote control and (are the cause) of Muslims being killed in every corner of the world. The United States should therefore expect more blows.?

The message is signed on behalf of the al Bayan (The Threat) movement by ?your warrior brother, Abul Hassan al Khadrami?.

Our Muslim expert identifies the name of the signatory as belonging to a Yemeni from Hadhrameuth, the Bin Ladens? place of origin where Osama enjoys substantial tribal support.

DEBKAfile?s counter-terror sources stress that warnings appearing on these forums are taken both very seriously and with caution by the intelligence services keeping track of the terrorist network?s electronic traffic.

Last November, Jeddah-based fundamentalist forums addressed a message to an Al Qaeda member, saying whoever understands ? understands; whoever knows, knows, but we are marching towards an operation that will take us to Paradise. Three days later, the Mombasa Paradise hotel was blown up killing 12 Kenyans and 3 Israelis and a failed shoulder-launched Strela anti-air missile missed an Israeli airliner at Mombasa airport.

Maybe they were meant to get caught on the highway, they were 'throw-away' or a decoy.

I worked at the Wellton Justice Court (Arizona's) in the 1970's, my grown daughter invited a gal who she met on the phone to visit me, thought we would like each other, so the gal showed up every 3 months and stayed the night.

I couldn't understand why, figured she needed a free place to stay.

The last time she came, I walked to the car with her and she was in a station wagon, with a dangerous load of ugly 2 foot boulders........for her mom's garden.

At work, I mentioned to one of the cops, the strange fact that this gal kept visiting me and I didn't know why, she said she was going from Los Angeles to Tucson.

When he heard about the rocks, he was all excited, seems that the dope smugglers use this trick. They want to have the vehicle stopped.

When the decoy is stopped, the cops are all busy checking it out and the real smuggler just drives right on past.

Yes, even in the 1970's it was a major bust, if they could catch you. Mary and I were stopped, in my 55 Chev wagon (it had bad shocks), we had just picked up the frozen meat from a bull, at the butcher shop. So it was a complete, all out search and check with the butcher.

Imagine the cops joy, all those lovely wrapped packages of meat...LOL

When it was over, the officer told me that I couldn't stick my license plate in the window, so the next month when we went to Yuma, I tied it on with baling wire, and he stopped me again, but we were busy keeping a full grown goat in the back seat and he kinda lost interest in us.

The real moral of the story, the 2 gals did a good job, imagine it, Hazmat and the feds, local and state cops, you could have driven past them with a tank and they would have missed you.

A minor fender bender, not bad enough to keep the car from running, but enough to insure that they got stopped.

I guess it all depends on the degree of sophistication of the bomb to be assembled. I severely disagreed with the BA pilots reluctance to let air marshals on board, however they did make one good point which illustrates our debate: Once the problem is on board, there isn't too much anyone can do. They will find a way to do whatever harm they intend to do. The key is stopping them before they get onto the plane.

You tell people we're at war. You mention some cities are more likely to get hit than others and that your government is out their protecting you. Then you tell the people what they can do to help. And what they can do to protect their families and neighbors in the event of an attack.

My concern is not that people will panic, but that they'll zone out. I have every confidence that the American people have enough defense mechanisms to mentally isolate themselves from reality.

Today the stock market dropped on rumors. Fear grows in the darkness of ignorance. Do we need grown men walking around with golf bags in subway stations in winter pretending to, what? Play golf? Time to get real.

what truth is there to tell? That there are threats? There are threats everyday, of everything, and people know that. but to start tossing out "city X,Y,Z may be nuked" every holiday, after you do it the first time and cry wolf, no one will even listen after that.

This war on terror has a battle element never seen in US military history. The primary weapon is a psychological and not direct physical threat. The physical threat is only a secondary threat because the greater force is the influence of the terror itself.

The terrorism has affected 290 million Americans.

The direct terror affected perhaps 100,000 individuals (3000 victims and their families).

In the scope of warfare, the targetting of civilian populations is nothing new.

However, the ability of the perpetrators to negatively influence the economy is their main instrument. Our nation clearly suffered an incredibly strong adverse economic impact due to 9-11-01's terror strikes. That economic downturn probably affected more than the strikes themselves. This is the force multiplier effect that they are intending to have.

I applaud the work of the Freepers here in this thread to maintain vigil at the electronic front.

But, we should not permit the vigil to translate to become the psychologic instrument of terror that AQ intends.

For this reason, the Bush Administration's declaration to citizens to continue normal activity is critical. If we fail to continue "normal" activity, our economy and our homes are destroyed by the terror provoked by AQ.

This can not occur for the sake of our collective security interests.

In the strange pictures that were posted, of the Luxor hotel and the plane, that was simple, the Egypt air crash last week, showed the Luxor town site on almost the first map that a FReeper posted on the crash thread.

Liz will be fine. I had the same surgery a bit over four years ago and I have absolutely no regrets whatsoever. The only weird thing is that during my recovery, I started wearing a tin foil hat and lurking at a website called the "Free Republic" or something like that. A year later, I was hooked and stopped lurking and became a full-fledged, card carrying member of that silly group. :-)

Good approach...I started this - gingerly - with my s-i-l today. Seemed to work pretty well. I asked about the school lockdown and she kinda' realized she needed to be more aware of the plan in case any emergency should occur. One by one, I'll try to get each of us up to preparedness!
