Very cute picture.
Right now if she runs in 2028, she gets my vote.
Maybe she could convince her father to become a Republican once again.
Is that her Papa?
Yes, she is a Hindu, as is J.D. Vance’s wife, which is problematic.
She might be the first woman I could vote for as POTUS.
And all of those rabid feminist Hillary lovers wouldn’t even consider Tulsi. It would show what hypocrites they are.
Tulsi still yes, but her father (who is in the photo) is now a Catholic who serves his local church in Hawaii as a lector/reader.
“She’s not a Christian, which would be an automatic disqualifier for many or most Republicans”
Let me be the first to say you are FOS.
Her views on the 2nd Amendment are of concern, not whether she is a Bible thumper or not.
Insidious incrementalism. Slowly, gradually, almost imperceptibly, the country gradually changes from a predominantly Christian country to one in which Eastern religions predominate. Many who are of the Christian faith (and many who aren't) see this as a problem.
Oh yeah, because that Sunday School Teacher Jimmy Carter turned out so well for us. /s
He’s as conservative as you can be in Hawaii and still win an election.
This country was founded on religious liberty, so I have no problem with what she believes.
And I would point out that she is Hindu, not Muslim. The government of India has declared that Hinduism is a lifestyle, not a religion.
There isn't even a process to convert to being Hindu (except for a few minor sects), if that's what worries you.
Wikipedia claims: "Gabbard previously opposed same-sex marriage and civil unions, believing that marriage should only be between a man and a woman. However, in March 2024 he voted to put Amendment 1 on the ballot. Gabbard apologized for his previous opposition to same-sex marriage and stated that conversations with his daughter Tulsi led to him evolving on this issue."
The founding religious liberty was for Christian sects who had been persecuted by the high Church to conform to corrupted standards. Those various Protestants wanted the freedom to follow Christ in their own breakaway denominations. Easily 95% of the non-indigenous inhabitants of America who possessed the voting franchise were either Christian or Deists, and the society upheld Christian values. While the Federal government could not by law establish an official denomination, all of the colonies did so and taxed their residents for the upkeep of their churches.
Out of this mixed bag of Christian states came our Constitution and legal framework, based in no small part on the Bible and on English common law.
While the liberals of their day such as Benjamin Franklin spoke expansively of allowing other such as "Mohametans" practice their faith without persecution, the understanding was that the American legal system would override any notions of political Islamic overthrow.
Hinduism and some other Eastern religions may be able to coexist with Christian values-based law, but Islam is the exception, as it is diametrically opposed to those values.
Houston, we have a problem.
I have not seen any Hindu or Buddhist missionaries in America. But have seen many Christian missionaries in Asia.
