Democrat Sen. Chris Van Hollen went to El Salvador to visit alleged gang member Kilmar Abrego Garcia. Van Hollen was photographed sitting with Abrego Garcia at a table that had what appeared to be some margaritas. Van Hollen is now backtracking and claiming that it was all a set up by El Salvador president Nayib Bukele.

I’m starting to really respect President Bukele. Not only did he mercilessly prosecute criminal gangs, but his troll game is up there with the best. Margaritas, complete with salted rims! I’m guessing there were no limes handy, so they substituted cherries.
At the same time, he showed that Garcia was healthy, smiling and had not a single mark visible on him.
Garcia is a citizen of El Salvador, and any pleas for Justice must be to the Salvadoran justice system. The US has no jurisdiction in his case. If Judge Boasberg wishes to charge the DOJ for breaking Garcia’s protection order, he can try. And Trump can pardon. But Garcia is a Salvadoran in El Salvador, where he belongs.
El Presidente has a sense of humor…
The thing about this set up is that if the senator had any decency it would have alerted on sight. But it did not. Why could the senator not see what was plainly in front of him?

Van Hollen isn’t upset that he was photographed sitting with a drug-trafficking wife beater that he’s trying to portray as a devoted family man, he’s upset that he was photographed with a glass of water posing as a margarita.
The picture looked to me like somebody was drinking it.
