Now... That makes sense.

If you want the rich to start paying their taxes, you need the middle and lower classes to stop paying their taxes for them. Personal income taxes were created during world war 1 to help pay for that war... WW1 ended 110+ years ago... Consider our payment made in full.

VAT-Tax the heck out of luxury items and drop taxes on essentials like basic clothing and food and watch the economy bloom like a rose in spring.

Don’t know what I would be making if I were still working now. I retired in 2013 as a dealership mechachanic & was a LONG way short of that then, so I would guess if Trump got his wish, I wouldn’t be paying any tax for a long, LONG time. Seems unreal to me.

Do it. JJ put a bill on the floor now. If this ever did happen it would neuter Democrats. They could never campaign and win on raising taxes on the middle class.

I assume this means the marginal rate. So if you make $250,000 your first $150k is tax free. The other $100k will be taxed. And the marginal rate on that may go up. It shouldn’t, Congress should cut accordingly… but those folks are addicted to taxpayer money. It’s worse than crack and more destructive.

I get the populist idea but it’s kind of BS.

Everyone should feel the pain.

SO much wrong, If a person making 149000 does not pay taxes, the person making 150000 will be taxed to an income below 149000, making the higher earnings recce less net income.

Fast track to real civil unrest and just flat out wrong.

No tax or a flat tax for everyone are the only two fair options.

'Cause I'm the taxman

Yeah, I'm the taxman

[Verse 2: George Harrison]
Should five percent appear too small
Be thankful, I don't take it all

[Chorus: George Harrison, George Harrison, John Lennon & Paul McCartney]

'Cause I'm the taxman

Yeah, I'm the taxman

(If you drive a car, car) I'll tax the street
(If you try to sit, sit) I'll tax your seat
(If you get too cold, cold) I'll tax the heat
(If you take a walk, walk) I'll tax your feet

EVERYONE should have a stake in the tax rates. If you have to have an income tax, it needs to be a flat tax of 10% or less, regardless of income so everyone sees the impacts and all have a stake in tax rate decisions.

Otherwise a consumption tax, but not both.

It’s the people who make more than that that pay the most taxes. Again there will be no relief for us and the great scam will continue.

If you make 150K, have a house mort int deduction, family deductions of 1Spender(luv ya sweetie!) 2 Eaters(rug rats), fully fund your IRA(s) 35K, give modestly to the Charitable Sponge of your choice 5K, and all the other SALT “deductions” 15K prop tax, you’re not paying much Fed Tax as it is.

It’s the young 75K & renting that gets the windfall here.
Smart move by PDJT. That’s the MAGA block he needs to move the country.

This is great for optics. I worry about the long-term. This is adding to Romney’s 47%... those who are not subject to taxes won’t care about tax policy or most other fiscal policies. That’s ripe for abuse by a future government.

I would much rather see a nominal tax across the board to everyone has some skin in the game. Here’s my tax brackets:

$0 - poverty line: no tax
Above poverty to $100,000: 5% flat tax
$100,001 - $150,000: 10% flat tax
Above $150,000: feel free to use progressive tax tables.
