makes for a great headline to shut up the libs but i don’t think its an effective plan
That depends. If spending is cut enough and other taxes are raised, like tariffs, it can.
In the 60s, most working people paid very little in income taxes.
The Dems loved inflation in the 70s because it forced people into higher tax brackets. I recall my father staring in disbelief at his paycheck after a big raise and seeing how big a chunk of the raise went in taxes.
You are correct. It's a band-aid for what ails America. yes, all tax reduction is good and helps the working classes and poor.
But doesn't reduce the power of government and leftist social-engineering. It doesn't address the root cause of printed, fiat money and how it flows to those most connected to government and Wall Street. It will probably only enhances class envy and social divide. Unless US Govt income is radically changed (based on duties?) then it only raises the imbalance between those who pay and those who do not
Romans in Rome didn't pay tax, and indeed had extensive public welfare. It did not stop the increasing wealth inequality, debasement of money, or increasing centralization of government and ultimate tyranny.
Combined with tariffs and ending wasteful and criminal spending? It would be more than enough. It’s a great plan.
The country ran fine with no federal income tax.
