They've been ordered to submit to a DOT inspection in Sacramento that's scheduled for 4:30 pm today. If they clear the inspection, they'll THEN be able to drive 400 miles to Pacific Palisades.
Talk about "looking a gift horse in the mouth." Then, on the way home, they get inspected again, and if they get red tagged, it's "fix it before you can return." Does liberal stupidity know no bounds? (I'm still waiting for a return call from @OSFM to explain this nonsense)

I am going to borrow this thread to tell you about the electric grid in areas NOT on fire. Due to high winds, they cut the power yesterday under PSPS (Public Safety Power Shutoff) for approx 375,000 customers (Edison; LADWP, SDGE, and PGE might be more) so that might be about a million people at 3 per household and then businesses. So what are people doing? Running gasoline generators, because we all know that would be “safer”!!? And they turn them on then go in and go to sleep (never use unattended!). If the house is all-electric then there is nothing, no heat, no hot water, no stove - and they cannot charge their precious EV’s plugged into the house. And you just know there will be some who bring propane heaters or BBQs into the house and then die of CO poisoning. Not a peep on when they will be returning power as the shutoff approaches 24 hours...
Just FYI on life in the Dimbulb-led state.

Why the }{€££ are they not pumping water out of the PACIFIC OCEAN !?!?!?!?!? They have to have a spare pump or 10 and piping available (if not then why not ?) that can be connected to the existing water mains and use the salt water to put out the fires !!! If there’s any thing left to pump potable water to after the fires are put out then flush and “Burn” the Distribution System out and go back to normal supply of water. I don’t understand why they are not doing this OTHER THAN THE IDIOTS (NOT) IN CHARGE OF THE SITUATION ARE STUPIDER THAN STUPID...

You explained this so well. These politcal hacks surround themselves with bootlickers instead of people with ideas and knowledge. Adding to your idea, from Pt Conception to the Mexico border there are numerous ports, harbors, marinas. They all have Coast Guard or Port-owned, some Navy, fire boats. The fire boats are smallish, just fuel tanks and pumps - they continuously suck up the seawater to spray at burning boats or docks, shore warehouses. Those could have saved homes on PCH most of which burned long after the PacPal Fire event began. In general the fire boats could have been, as you said, attached to pipes/hoses to the land to feed water trucks. The Navy has amazing abilities - too bad Pudding Cup was napping.
