In a decision that could end the practice of water fluoridation in the U.S., a federal judge late Tuesday ruled that water fluoridation at current U.S. levels poses an “unreasonable risk” of reduced IQ in children.
The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) can no longer ignore that risk, and must take regulatory action, Judge Edward Chen of the U.S. District Court of the Northern District of California wrote in the long-awaited landmark decision.
More than 200 million Americans drink water treated with fluoride at the “optimal” level of 0.7 milligrams per liter (mg/L). However, Chen ruled that a preponderance of scientific evidence shows this level of fluoride exposure may damage human health, particularly that of pregnant mothers and young children.
The verdict delivers a major blow to the EPA, public health agencies like the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and professional lobbying groups like the American Dental Association (ADA), which have staked their reputations on the claim that water fluoridation is one of the greatest public health achievements of the 20th century and an unqualified public good.
Fluoride proponents refused to reexamine that stance despite mounting scientific evidence from top researchers and government agencies of fluoride’s neurotoxic risks, particularly for infants’ developing brains.
Instead, they attempted to weaken and suppress the research and discredit the scientists carrying it out.

“risk of reduced IQ...”
This is why cities are democrat and rural places have common sense intelligence
Just another right wing conspiracy?
The Birchers were right.
NSS...I remember my Great Grandmother lamenting the fluoridation of water in our town
Municipalities far and wide have examined the facts and chosen to fluoridate water then this black robed pig decides he knows better. When he harms 200 million people what is the recourse? Probably about the same as when leftists decided millions of malaria deaths in Africa were worth it to stop the use of DDT.
In Buffalo NY a “parents group” (organized by an aggressive ambulance-chasing law firm) actually just sued the city to put fluoride BACK in the city water supply.
If the judge has decided that the EPA has not properly studied the comparative risks, the decision seems legitimate. If the judge is deciding as a matter of fact that fluoridation is unsafe, that sounds like a judge making policy, which they are not supposed to do.
Dental problems should not be solved by drinking a potentially poisonous to children fluid. Brushing with fluoride works fine. And sealing children’s teeth works, too.

Nailed it. Correlation is not causation. I can just as well say it is mass transportation that is causing the lower IQ. Give me $10M and I can easily come up with supporting data.
Then again, who needs to study it when some former ACLU lawyer can just proclaim it to be.

I must really be in trouble — from using fluoride toothpaste and drinking fluoridated water since I was a kid. How did I ever make it through grad school?

Not to mention playing with liquid Mercury and keeping what they gave you in your hand in your pencil trays of your desk. And I STILL know that democrats are traitors...
I never drink water I know what fish do in it.

Insanity...Low IQ is usually caused by hanging with peers of the same caliber...lazy and non-productive. In other words...they don’t use their brains.
grading on a curve. lol, just kidding.
You and me and generations that followed...no problem. Gen Z suddenly shows the risk???
Maybe legalization of drugs has more of a significant influence there than flouride.
It seems to me if you want fluoride supplementation for yourself or your kids you can take fluoride supplements.
I have come to the conclusion that fluoride in our water supply (added) is not treatment as I used to think but involuntary medication.
Some “Judges” also declare C02 to be pollution.
Yours is the the rare voice of reason here.
One more of Alex Jones’ “conspiracy theories” turns out to be true.
