Judge Merchan: The jurors do not need to believe a crime was committed in order to convict Trump of unlawfully hiding a crime he never committed.
Conservative Treehouse ^ | May 26, 2024 | Sundance

Finding President Trump guilty of a crime is seemingly a foregone conclusion. Even the White House is saying Joe Biden will deliver remarks to the nation from the official executive office as soon as the guilty verdict is delivered {SEE HERE}.

Judge Merchan has yet to release the public version of jury instructions, however he previously decided last week that the jurors do not need to agree on a predicate crime in order to find President Trump guilty of trying to hide one.

I told my uber-lib sister that if things go the way I hope they do NOT go, by next July, I may be arrested and imprisoned as an ‘enemy of the state’. (Especially if my state, Washington, elects the ultra-lib Bob Ferguson)
She thinks I’m crazy and doesn’t think it would EVER happen.

Yeahh, right.

Thanks for the comment.

The entire situation is such crap.

It could occur that each one of the jurors picks a different “predicate crime,” and the effect of that would be that out a menu of “possible” crimes, that 5 of 6 jurors in EACH instance find that there is reasonable doubt: a solid acquittal in every in instance. And yet this judge thinks that can then lead to a conviction combined with a separate crime?

It is outright criminal of this judge.

Moreover, it is BS on its face for any judge to give 700 pages of instructions to a jury. Anything that long is automatically prejudicial.

And jury nullification is ONLY that, nullification.

There is no option for jurors to just throw up hands and declare a defendant guilty because of fatigue, confusion, mis-instruction, judicial pressures, various forms of threats, politics presented as crimes, etc.

And on a “felony” that has never been prosecuted even once in this history of this so called “law.”

We the People will only accept a not-guilty verdict.

Well, if you watch the pilot, you may have to binge-watch the series. That’s what happened to me. Imagine a really good movie with cliffhangers that compel you to go out and buy the next season’s DVDs.

The judge already said the jury doesn’t need to be unanimous in order to convict. This is insane!

I hadn't heard that.

If the jury returns a unanimous "not guilty" verdict the judge will probably just issue a directed "guilty verdict.""

And yeah, I know there won't be a unanimous "not guilty" verdict.

I can picture it all now.

President Trump’s lawyers present several pallets of appeals to the next court.

Judges: “ We only need to see the most important ones, not all of them.”

President Trump’s lawyers: “These are just the most important ones. We could fit the semi trailer with all of them in here.”

After this trial is all done, do they release all of the kangaroos or euthanize them?

The predicate crime is being Donald Trump. Guilty.

You have a better chance of finding Jimmy Hoffa, Elvis, or Bigfoot than getting a not guilty verdict.
