The liberals smugly thought they had it all figured out. Get a deranged judge and a TDS prosecutor who campaigned primarily on Trump hate in New York to find Donald Trump guilty on an absurd charge that no one else in history had been charged with and for which there were NO victims. Of course, this totally bogus case was sure to be tossed on appeal but the whole point was that during the appeals process that could last for many months or over a year, Trump would have to come up with the over $350 million penalty and prohibited from doing business in New York for 3 years.
Yes, they had it all figured out except they overlooked one very NOT minor detail. American truckers. The "peasants" whom they despise. On the day after the the judgement was handed down, trucker Chicago Ray put out the word that starting Monday, February 19, truckers would NO LONGER be delivering shipments to New York City. And that movement almost instantly grew like wildfire with many many truckers pledging NOT to make deliveries to New York.
As Chicago Ray put it, F--- Around and Find Out. And New York will soon find out that there is little to no food on their supermarket shelves. Food prices in that city will soon reflect the lack of supply from truckers. Within days the price of eggs should rise to at least $10 per dozen which will seem like a bargain a few days later when they rise to over $20 per dozen. Call it an incentive, liberals. An incentive to FAST TRACK the appeals process from months to days so New Yorkers can eat again.
Oh, and don't blame the truckers for your woes, New York. Put the blame where it REALLY belongs. Upon Judge Engoron and D.A. Letitia James and upon all those liberals who were too cute by half with this dopey Trump punishment scheme.
Not necessarily. Some convenience store owners have been raiding Aldi to stock their own shelves at a much higher price.
“There needs to be a compensation fund for lost loads.”
There already is...it’s called child support!😎
“Remember the NFL?”
I haven’t seen a game for many years.
You know that in NY, it’s all $$$.
If all the developers, or pretty much EVERY business in NY realizes that they can have their property and business nuked by one crooked creep, the cash will not flow to the politicians including judicial candidates. Quite the contrary: the decrepit, florid salamander “Engoron” just opened up a giant wedge issue that will bring down a tidal wave of cash on the opposing side.
The Appellate judges are almost certainly hearing the screaming behind closed doors and will be running backwards to reassure some rather hysterical people. And if it looks like they don’t wanna budge, thinks will start getting broken. As in, legs, windows, kneecaps...it’s NY, right?
“I believe the majority of truckers are not independent, and I don’t expect the trucking companies will go along.”
Trucking companies come in all sizes, some with just a hand full of trucks, some with a few hundred and big ones with thousands of truck. Some of the smaller companies may well go along with a boycott.
Good on them!
True, but any pull back by the independents will cause problems and price increases due to shortages.
“contracts moved over to company trucking”
Boss, the Teamster rep would like to talk to you about the NYC runs.
Dangerous!
The traffic is awful.
The men are very concerned for their safety and of maintaining an unblemished driving record.
“I haven’t seen a game for many years.”
Me either, but I was never a fan.
The point of my snark was to underline the general ineffectiveness of boycotts. Especially of things that are popular or where there is a lot of money at stake.
I’m sure some independent drivers may refuse to deliver to NYC. Someone will be willing to take their place.
There might be some, but in my experience, trucking companies simply go where the money is. They really don’t care who they whore themselves out to.
There should be a premium put on NYC loads. We truck and you couldn’t pay us enough to go east coast (Midwest)
I only did one drop in NYC, and that was enough for me. But it wasn’t up to me either.
I’m so old, I had a friend who sold Commodore computers resold from Target because he knew how to make them usable to businesses. That’s how reality works.
I appreciate the effort, but over the road trucks don’t generally deliver into the city. Most deliveries are coming from a distributor, who operates their own fleet— their drivers will not be part of this, they would be fired.
OMG. How will the “migrants” eat?
It would only take 4% of total trucking action for significant impact.
Truckers and Farmers are the lifeblood of society.
Last week I was doing an Interstate driving trip from KY to GA. One trailer had an advertisement on the back trying to get drivers for the trucking company, promising “No East Coast loads”.
Yeah, that’s the net effect of what will happen.
I saw what happened in the ‘79 strike. Got ugly fast: high prices, bricks going through windshields on the PA turnpike.
Almost got into a physical altercation over one little incident back then but I won’t bore you with the details.
There are plenty of loads going to free states that truckers should move first before taking even a single load to a democrat hellhole! Any truckers doing otherwise need to be held accountable by the other truckers.
