The US Secretary of Stateâonce the most powerful diplomatic title on earthâannounced that the US would not permit Ukraine to engage in peace talks with Russia and China. Hours later, Ukraineâs president Volodymyr Zelensky invited Communist Chinaâs Xi to Kiev to work on a peace plan.

Best post by you ever, and best post since Ukraine war started.
No! China relies on bankrupt USA with bigger national debt in human history.
This is hilarious.
Good to see you posting!
Hope all is well with you and your family.
Great post. And it’s so good to see you back here, DP!
No, you’re not a Putin lover
But you also do not know Putin, to make this comment
“ I KNOW WHAT PUTIN IS. He’s an assassin and not a good guy. He misses the old Soviet days and he doesn’t wish us great time ahead.”
And not knowing our “enemy” ( or strategic competitor, or rival) is why we are in trouble and headed for greater trouble. A conflict cannot be solved if people don’t know, don’t understand, or won’t accept…what it’s about.
B..b..b..b..but I thought Zelensky was Biden’s puppet?
One can assume that the bribes to congressman (heres looking at you, Lindsey) will suddenly stop. Watch Congress get whiplash as theychange their stance on aid to ukraine.
When nations perceive there is a new geopolitical boss it doesn’t take long for them to realign themselves. We are seeing it now in the Middle East and South America. Expect that trend to continue.
So, are you going to tell us what it is about?
Great! Let THEM bear the expense and take the heat for a while.
I need a nap.
Great post.
Just after the WW2 Tehran Conference, Stalin said to a journalist, (roughly translated):
"It's high time the Slavic race was in charge of Europe."
Never forget that modern-day Muskovite culture is in part derived from the Mongol hordes who over-ran the region in the 13th century. They never really left.
Are we to wait until the Muskovite horde is at the Rhine? Occupying Istanbul? Or Oslo? Are you so poorly read that you don't know how and why the Cold War began? Why NATO had to be formed in the first place?
Those who don't study history are doomed to repeat it.
Those who DO< study history are doomed to stand by watching helplessly while everyone else repeats it. *sigh*
My only issue with you is that Russia already has 4 NATO nations on its border. Ukraine even if it did become part of NATO, which it can’t because of disputed borders clause wouldn’t change that. Your Cuba missile crisis analogy therefore does not hold water. Would be like invading Cuba because it is getting missiles while Mexico already does and is an ally of soviets.
I think that Putin has an historical fear of invasion (though they have an historical past of invading themselves) but that fear is not justified prior to feb 22.
Russia has been trading and prospering with the west, had NATO nations on its border for decades and no invasion and no rumors of invasion.
Prior to putins invasion ukrain was no threat just look how the Donbas conflict was going nowhere.
This is all on Putin and his dreams of a greater Russia, his own words and writings prove that. Perhaps he thought this was his last easy attempt to expand Russia and make things “right” in his mind.
As to west’s involvement in Ukraine corruption and all that. I agree, but the idea that this was some big plan to set the stage to invade Russia IMO is total bs
What would it gain and really what does Russia gain?
Demographics are against Russia, their population is shrinking and this war is accelerating that. Their Soviet inheritance is dwindling, saw where they are pulling T-52s and 55s from boneyard, missile and rocket stocks depleting without the industrial might of soviet union to replenish
Present oil prices even without sanctions and discounts increased shipping costs…. are far below what is needed to find the country even without war expenses. Russian budget calls for 70 a barrel more realistic is 100 but they are nowhere near either.
Bottom line of Russia had not invaded, but kept trading they would have been fine(except for demographic time bomb but invading Ukraine wouldn’t change that). No one was going to attack them well at least not from the west, but now the big winner is China
My prediction, russian federation slowly the quickly devolves into a bloody mess and ceases to exist and China annexes most of eastern russian territories. They have already ordered renaming of Russian cities with Chinese names.
How Ukraine ends up not sure but if this continues it may become the threat it wasn’t prior to putins 2014 and 2022 invasions
Just my 3 cents
Good post, Putin and Russia is on its knees to China and xi.
Russia has natural resources that China needs but Russia needs the $ more.
IMO China is going to take advantage of weaken and vulnerable Russia (despite appearances Russia and esp China hate each other) and will eventually take what they are buying now, but even that won’t matter.
China like Russia are in the midst of a demographic time bomb. Chinas 1 child policy has come home to roost and russia well they just arnt having kids and this war is accelerating it.
Chinas economy for all the hype is very thin. Real estate makes up a huge part of it and that is a house of cards
China is now a one man nation and even worse than Putin xi has eliminated any dissenting opinions and lives in his own bubble of superiority.
Though most of the west is not in much better shape the demise of china and Russia in their current state is inevitable
Just my 3 cents
Lockheed-Martin and General Dynamics are very concerned.
Who is the they you to which you refer?
“Hours later, Ukraineâs president Volodymyr Zelensky invited Communist Chinaâs Xi to Kiev to work on a peace plan.”
China has the resources to guarantee peace (money and manpower), along with actually wanting peace there (apparently).
Like it or not, the days when the US ran the world WILL be over the moment China announces an agreement.
“It’s more like Putin getting an unpaid internship than Putin getting the keys to the executive rest room.”
There are 160 million people in Russia. Putin, his nukes, and his resources, were going to be junior partner to someone, either the West or China.
Looks like we made sure that was China.
Happy now?
Many of us knew you never get into wars with ideological morons running the country. That is just one of the reasons this proxy war was idiotic.
Only thing dumber and more loser than neocons are neolibs.
