Anthony Fauci declared that the government must “break” the attitude of Republicans who “don’t like being told what to do” about their health.
In a new episode of ‘American Masters,’ set to be broadcast on Tuesday on PBS, documentarians followed Fauci around for two years from January 2021 onwards, when he became Chief Medical Advisor to the President.
Fauci is shown out and about in an African-American neighbourhood in Washington DC in June 2021. Accompanied by Mayor Muriel Bowser, Fauci and others are attempting to persuade the local residents about the efficacy of the COVID-19 vaccine.
At one point, Bowser expresses her frustration to Fauci about “other states” in the country, that may have high vaccine hesistancy rates.
“Oh my God. They’re going to keep the outbreaks smouldering in the country. It’s so crazy,” Fauci responded. “They’re not doing it because they say they don’t want to do it. They’re Republicans. They don’t like to be told what to do.” Fauci claimed that the government therefore needed to “break” that attitude in Republicans, but didn’t elaborate how they would do so.

Take the (very short) time to watch the video. It is ON camera when he said it.
I saw the video and I understand your concern. The man is an authoritarian and should be on trial for his involvement with the Wuhan Lab but what he’s saying on this particular video can be interpreted two different ways and knowing Fauci as you do I would not be surprised if he meant it the way you interpreted it.
I just don’t think this is any smoking gun video. Delete it? Absolutely not.

I may actually just understand a sentence differently than you.
I did see the video clip and I do understand how it can be interpreted in that way nor would I be surprised if Fauci actually meant it that way.
I just interpret what he said in a different way but I certainly do not trust anything he says.
“Tuskegee Experiment”
Informal name. There was no experiment. It didn’t inject anything into anybody.
The Tuskegee Syphilis Study followed the progession of syphilis in men who had caught it the old fashioned way.
The study began in 1932 when there wasn’t a cure for syphilis. The knock on it is that once penicillin became available after WWII they weren’t treated with it.
I worked in Anacostia in 1991. Nothing says Republican Stronghold like Nation of Islam members hawking The Final Call paper and screen vendors selling Velvet Malcom X paintings.
As much as I want to see this man under oath, sadly, he’s known to bring such headlines to the hearings and use the ridiculous ones to expose people like you and me who does not agree with his real actions.

I grew up with black folk, at least one of whom, my nurse, I felt closer to than any member of my family. Most of them were uneducated, maybe barely literate; but I early came to realize than they were not lacking in common sense, unlike some members of my genetic family. The maid of my maiden aunt (who was very liberal and had been a member of the state legislation) told her that support for unwed mothers was destroying the institution of marriage in her community. I don’t know if she told my aunt, but she told me she was registered as a Republican and voting as such. To my aunt’s credit, she did will her maid equal inheritance with her nieces.
